So, what movies do you think had great potential for sequels, or even to become a franchise, but for whatever reason, didn't?
To me, three pop immediately in my head:
-Unbreakable. Now, as is, it's already great. But when Shyamalan said he initially wanted to make it a trilogy, but couldn't because of the reception and box office, my heart broke.
-Serenity. Same case: also meant to be a trilogy. It did get a positive reception from critics, but it just (unfairly) didn't get the box office it deserved (or that Universal expected). I blame it mostly on the marketing. Best trailer I've seen for this was fan made for chrissake!
-Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Now, this is an unusual choice, I know. But, like Johnny Gossamer had his series of books (in the movie), Harry Lockhart deserves a series of neo-noir movies. A different girl in each movie (kinda like Harry's version of bond girls), a different kind of mystery, new sidekicks, etc.
What about you guys?
