Ever see a preview/trailer for a movie and imagine it as being the best thing you've seen in a long while? You hype it. Watch the trailer a million times. Can't wait for the film to come out. When it does, you're there at the theater eagerly awaiting for the film to start. You walk out crushed; the film disappointed you...and it didn't help that the trailer made it look much better than it actually was.

Here are a few of mine...

Spider-Man 3
Quantum of Solace
The Strangers

What about you?

Jumper, Hancock to name a few and X3

Great thread... I too have noticed the rather worrying increase in great trailers for terrible movies... I think it may have began with the Matrix Reloaded trailer... I musta watched that trailer 5000 times... Drooling.
We all know how that one turned out... "Systemic anomaly"? euucchhh.

X3 was a huge let down compared to the trailer.
I like the Star Wars prequels. When I saw the trailer for The Phantom Menace way back in 1998, I was so pumped. It definitely did not live up to the hype.

the teaser for Superman Returns was amazing. The movie, even though I liked it was weak compared to it.

Yeah Spider-man 3 is a big one.

I'll add Sin City.
I like the movie, I still own it. . . but the trailer itself was just sooo much better than the film.

Even though I don't consider SM3 a bad movie (a disappointment, but not a terrible movie), it did not live up to the trailers at all.

Superman Returns. I straight up almost popped a ***** when I watched that trailer, which was eventually destroyed by the actual film. I havent been the same since.

Thanks alot, Bryan Singer. :cmad:

Superman Returns, for sure. Brando's voice over Williams' score with Superman floating out in space was ****ing epic.

Just one more thing that made me want to like Superman.

The Black Dahlia had an awesome, truly awesome, sweat inducing, threat tightening trailer. And the film was a putrid pile of cow ****.

Hocus Pocus.
Wild Wild West.
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.
...I mean, damn :csad:

The Hulk & The Incredible Hulk, I liked both movies but there not as good as the trailers made them look.

I Am Legend
War Of The Worlds
Indiana Jones & The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull

the sad thing was, the first teaser was so damn good with that track from DJ Shadow.

And honestly, Ryan Reynolds has been suffering ever since then, which is a shame. (though I've heard that the Nines was good)
