Movies You Couldn't Finish

I actively tried to take a nap during the first hour of Peter Jackson's "King Kong." It was so damn terrible.

And if the theater hadn't been packed, I would have walked out of Spielberg's "A. I." I couldn't believe it.
Really? I watched King Kong as a kid and loved the film, still watch it sometimes and it hold up well

It's an odd beast. I used to think more highly of it. Now I see it alternately as a really, really bad movie for half it's running time and the best work of Peter Jackson's career for the other half. Every moment with Kong himself is pure gold. The set pieces are exciting, but those one on one moments between Kong and Anne are staggeringly brilliant. It's a beautiful confluence of smart, subtle (yes, subtle) visual storytelling, great acting, perfect musical accompaniment from James Newton Howard, and next-level effects work. Unfortunately, basically everything else in that movie is awful.

I'd give 2001 another try. Its the only Kubrick movie out of six that I didn't initially like.

Now This is 40. Ugggghhhh... About a half hour of Apatow's whiny family and Apple product placement then it was gone.

For whatever reason I find myself unable to get through Godzilla vs Biollante. Its not even that its bad, especially by that series' standards. The effects are actually quite well done. I just keep falling asleep.

Hansel and Gretal Witch Hunters and the last Resident Evil movie. Or wait, I dunno, the 4th one. Has there been more yet? I don't even know anymore

There have been five so far with a sixth coming out next year.

Resident Evil
(2002)
Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004)
Resident Evil: Extinction (2007)
Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010)
Resident Evil: Retribution (2012)
Resident Evil 6 (2014)

I hate all Resident Evil films. Nothing to do with the games I grew up with. For shame on those who keep trying to make more of this crap.

One of the Highlander sequels (it has the McLeod who didn't play Rayden, that's all I remember)
The Fly (remake, and the original)
Doom
Bad Boys (Smith & Lawrence)
Transformers 2

That's kind of extreme. They kept the main ingredients of the virus outbreak

I really enjoyed The Spirit despite it not being a very good movie.

Annie Hall. I can't finish it, I don't know why. There's something off about it.

The first time I tried watching it: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.

Speed Racer

it's a unique sort of pain this movie inflicts upon me. maybe it gets really good in the second half or something. i'll never know.

I'd say the first 2 are pretty squarely rooted in the games. Past that though, barely at all, though I enjoy watching the third film quite a bit.

If they are going to continue with that series I wish they'd just reboot it as its has strayed so far from its source and where it has gone isn't particularly good or interesting.
