Reporter Abby Chandler who writes for the Badhaven site states Quesada told her that:

A script for a Ms/Captain Marvel movie is ready to go. They just needed an actress. Marvel are having a meeting in a couple of weeks and will be ready to announce some films then … He said we’d be pleasantly surprised.

Though just a few days ago Quesadar stated
In a chat afterwards, Joe told me that he'd love to make a tentpole movie with a female lead, but that he really doesn't think there is an actress right now who could carry it, or a character that would work either.

interesting.

didn't feige or whedon mentioned something about adding a female character in the next avengers film? don't they have someone unknown project in the works as well for the upcoming year or two?

Hmm, I love Ms Marvel but who are her supporting characters? She Hulk has supporting characters. So does Wanda.

you want a big name actress why not get charlize!!!

You had to post that seductive picture, you just had to...wow.

No.

Ms. Marvel is not in the works.

I wish she was, but that Badhaven report is patently false. Mark "RorMachine" Cassidy was at the Kapow! panel with Quesada, and states uncategorically that Joe said no such thing about a Ms. Marvel movie.

Hope there'll be one someday, and sooner than later, but this rumor is already dead in the water. Sorry.

She's not claiming he said it at the panel. He told her after

Here's the actual article about it

* According to Joe Quesada, Marvel “have a big meeting coming up in a couple of weeks to discuss the movie slate. We have several movies in the works right now that I think you’ll be really pleasantly surprised to hear about.” Could one of them be a big screen outing for Ms (soon-to-be Captain) Marvel? He called her one of his favourite characters and told us quietly that a script is ready to roll for her film, the only problem they’re facing is finding an actress for the part... Either way, it seems Mark Millar’s hopes for “a sexy Namor movie” probably won’t be coming to fruition any time soon.

Eh, sounds like even Quesada is iffy. I'll wait to hear something from this magical "big meeting" in a couple of weeks before I start getting my hopes up.

Boring. Not every single comic character is worthy of a movie. That said, if they got Charlize for the role....

I think you could do something with Ms Marvel. Tie her in with the introduction of the Kree, have Mar-Vell as part of her origin, but have him either return to space or die.

The name is the real sticking part, because both Ms Marvel and Captain Marvel. . . might be hard sells.

Ms Marvel >>>> Your favorite comic book character

It's just math :o

Well, I REALLY want to see Ms. Marvel in the MCU, but I'd rather her get introduced in another Marvel movie first (like Avengers 2), just because that would mean her solo venture would probably have a better shot at succeeding. IF they actually did a solo film first, they would probably need someone like Theron to carry it. Which would be fine by me, as she's one of my favorite actresses. I'm just not sure she'd want to after her experience with Aeon Flux.

It would take huge balls to do a Ms. Marvel movie. There only have been a handful of big budgeted action movies with a female lead that have succeeded at the box office.

This is an inescapable truth. And those handful have succeeded largely on the marquee value of the actress (like Angelina Jolie and....well, Angelina Jolie). You'd really have to have a *huge* name to carry a solo Ms. Marvel movie, and that would likely involve someone the fanboys would hate (but general audiences would love), and someone that Marvel would have to think twice about signing their hefty paycheck. Think: Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, Katherine Heigl.

Yes. Seriously.

This rumor is a bit flimsy. One point of contact, and with Joey Q, no less, who may have information, but he probably won't know the priority of that information.

I really don't think an Avengers movie has enough room to introduce a new character and explain their powers. If she can't carry her own movie, introduce her in someone else's solo movie.

Therone still wants to be a superhero, that's why she did Hancock. Unfortunately, I don't think she can headline a movie, and now has a bad track record of superhero flicks.

This is true. Even if you have a good story, just earning the name "Marvel" is hard, on top of that, it's like calling a movie "Mr. Disney." It just has too many implications.

What a beautiful day when we get to agree. It would take an actress like this... except we know Aniston and Heigl are no longer big draws. I think that's what Queseda might have been getting at. Witherspoon *might* be able to swing it, depending. Cameron Diaz has the pull to make it happen, based on her numbers from Bad Teacher. But outside of those two, I don't see any actress headlining ANY movie successfully. That's hollywood for ya. And if those two aren't available/interested, then there's simply no actress who can carry this movie. The movie can't be made successfully.

You're right. No one is going to see a Yvonne Strahovski movie. No one outside of Chuck fans know who she is.

I think the best move is to introduce Ms. Marvel and Black Panther (black hero movies have limited success also) in the Ant Man movie then put all three in Avengers.

Ms. Marvel and Black Panther co-starring could help the Ant Man movie do better business than either of their solo movies could potentially do.

Uh, negative. Not only do their international and intergalactic stories not fit within Ant-Man's limited scope, but Black Panther's proven the more commercially successful of the two in comics and cartoons, and Hancock and Blade seemed pretty successful, iirc. This is to say nothing of the plethora of black-led action movies that have been successful.

What Ant-Man needs is a good fun smart appealing take on a shrinking hero to be successful. Filling his film with cooler co-stars will not make people like him. :/

There have only been a handful of big budgeted action movies with a female lead that weren't absolute dreck. Not just bad, but absolutely unwatchable garbage.

People were talking about how almost all WW2 movies bomb before Cap came out, how Norse mythology is completely niche before Thor came out. This is just another extension of that.

Put together a quality script, put together a quality cast, and make a fine movie. Audiences will show up.
