Wouldn't it be dull with Spider-man only fighting the Lizard?

it all really depends on how it is handled.

Spider-Man 3 - multiple villains handled poorly.

The Dark Knight - while i hate the constant comparisons of TDK to everything else, the way they handled it worked

Personally, I think the best way to handle multiple villains for Spidey is to simply start the movie out with a fight scene between Spidey and a lesser villain from his rogues gallery. Simple as that.

If you want it to be taken further, you can have that villain brooding in jail for the majority of the movie, then somehow get out to be present for the final battle between Spidey and his main villain to raise the stakes. But i think SM3 will have left a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths and this will not be the case.

And even TDK was weakened by the Two-Face plot thread. I say one villain would be fine in this reboot.

The only thing I can agree with is a minor villain at the beginning of the movie. Especially because of the reboot we want Peter to fight someone to test his powers out. Thugs usually work well for that but I'm sick of seeing it over and over again, give him a formidable foe to give him a good kick in the rear. They made Spider-Man invincible until the end of each movie, made it unbelievable.

Yes. But it should be someone who'd tie into Lizard's story.

Hrm... Lizard is a giant monster. Who could be hunted down. Hunted...hunted...hunted. Hrm...

If they are minor thug villains, like Shocker, then sure. Hell I'd even be fine with The Enforcers as side villains :oldrazz:

Personally, I'd prefer focusing on one villain, but at the same time, there's nothing inherently wrong with having more than one if it's done in a way that makes sense and works -- I definitely wouldn't have a problem with, say, something like the film opening with Spidey fighting a minor villain aside from the main one, possibly even one where it's implied that he's run into him before if the film chooses to stay away from another origin story and have Peter having been fighting crime as Spider-man for awhile already, sort of like in the Spectacular Spider-man cartoon.

I think they can make a brief cameo. They don't actually have to be part of the plot, just have Spider-Man foil one of their plans (bank robbery maybe?)

i woulnt mind norman being in the backround, not so much a villian but waiting in the wings. It would be a better green goblin story if they took a movie to flesh him out rather then rush him like they did the first time around.

Yes, but maximum 2 villains for a movie! And have 2 villains only if one of them is Mysterio, Shocker, Chameleon or Rhino!

If we have villains like Venom, Ock, Green Goblin, Scorpion or The Lizard, I think these could handle a movie on their own!

As I said in the other thread, the more I think about it, the more I feel like Lizard actually could handle the film as the only villain. So I say, one is enough. But I'd be glad with 2 also, but not more than 2. I'm having a good feeling about this!

If the Lizard rumor is correct then we definitely need two. Lizzy can't handle it all by himself, especially not without having this film become a SM2 clone.

Well at least we're on the same page.:cwink:

I am fine with two villains but three or more big time villains should be a big no no.

I agree. Two major supervillains and a minor non-supervillain can work though. Batman Begins did it with Ra's Al Ghul + Scarecrow + Carmine Falcone. But I don't ever see how more than 2 supervillains can work except in a team movie like the Avengers/JLA/X-Men/FF ect. And even there it's real tricky.

Yes it can work in that sense. If Shocker made one appearance and was gone then that is fine. The problem arises when you have three major villains all fighting for screen time throughout the entire movie.

One or two major villains in one movie is perfect.

A minor villain at the start of the movie.Shocker or Rhino stealing an artifact in a museum.

That could work. Just pick whoever's the biggest doofus that they can despense with quickly. Hey Shocker, we gotta part for ya!

I don't have a problem with multiple villains. It's all about how they are written and incorporated into the overall plot. It can be executed well as long as villains are not trying to upstage each other or team up for the sole purpose of defeating the hero.

I'd love an opening scene villain. Shocker would be the best IMO.

I think Rhino should be saved for a movie with Scorpion.
