Like Darwinia, Multiwinia does not fall into any one game genre, mixing elements from strategy, action, puzzle, hacker, and God games.
There are six confirmed gameplay modes in Multiwinia[1]:
- Capture the statute where each team has to carry large statues and bring them back to your base. The team that captures the most wins. [2]
- Domination where players must wipe out all opponents.
- King of the Hill where players try to gain control of zones; the team with the most at the end of the game wins.[2]
- Assault - as an attacker, the player must assault a defended base, trying to stop a weapon. Defenders try to prevent an attacker from succeeding.[2]
- Rocket Riot where players capture and protect solar arrays to refuel your rocket, whoever launches first wins.
- Blitzkrieg where players attempt to capture areas of the map.[3]
