I am listening to shoegazer :cmad:
hey I listen to RAWK too, I just dislike most of the bands out there with gratuitous z's and K's

Is that the guy that does it lounge singer style? That's pretty funny.

Yeah. My personal favorites are his renditions of Man in the Box, Enter Sandman, and More Human Than Human. Haha, I think he also covered You Oughta Know, which sounds hilarious.

Also, Disturbed can show flashes of talent, but most time they're wayyyy too silly for their own good. And Nonpoint and Three Days Grace just make Baby Jesus cry.

I've never heard Nonpoint or Three Days Grace. They're not on my list of things to listen to anytime soon. Disturbed aren't any more silly than some of the other longstanding acts on the scene like Slayer and Metallica. They're all full of posturing and ridiculousness, which is part of their charm to me. (Granted, Slayer and Metallica can play their instruments a kabillion times better than Disturbed, though). They've all got that 80's Metal attitude, which they all stole from Judas Priest anyway. Heh! If you REALLY want to hear something ridiculous and atrocious, check out Avenged Sevenfold or Eighteen Visions. Those guys are truly worth a laugh.

depends on who you ask really I think they have uniqueness to them musically and vocally

plus I hate most 80's bands including Metallica

Uniqueness does not equal musical talent. I guarantee you that Disturbed's guitar player can't hold a candle to Kerry King or Kirk Hammett. They play things that are far and away outside his abilities.

Their vocalist is pretty interesting, and I dug it when they did the Land of Confusion cover, but overall their tone and whatnot is kind of generic.

I think that you need to take in to consideration the fact that bands like Metallica and Megadeth paved the way for acts like Disturbed. I'm not asking you to like them or anything, but if not for Metallica, I don't think that Disturbed would be around.

so....what are these bands using their music-weapon to fight against?

yes I will admit they helped paved the way for most metal bands but I don't think you should compare them when their two different types of music

Ummm, noooo, that's a fact. As a musician myself, I can hear the difference in technical ability between different players and Disturbed's guitarist does well with what he does but just doesn't have the technical ability to play the types of things someone like Kerry King does. What I DO like is that bands like Disturbed and Godsmack are bringing back metal and hard rock after the disaster that is/was nu-metal and it's inspiring a whole new generation of players to pick up instruments and really try to learn how to play the damn things. In the process, they're picking up on the older stuff like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Metallica and many, many others where there was some serious musicianship and finding inspiration in that and learning how to play it. In another five years or so, we're going to se a big rebirth of high caliber musicianship being touted and very well regarded like it was back in the 80's and that's awesome to me.

Disturbed's strength is their singer, their songwriting and the lyrics and imagery he's able to conjure. It's not in their musicanship.

I do agree that it wouldn't be DISTURBED without David Draiman

then again no band really sounds the same after they lose a singer
