my band WINGS IN VAIN are looking for a decent music program we can record our music on. can anyone give me some advice on what we need to look for or the name of a pretty good program?

Get yourself a MAC if you don´t have one already

Mac G5, Digi 002 and Pro Tools

That's the expensive route. SoundForge and Garage Band aren't too expensive and they are on PC.

Garage Band isn't available for Windows PC's.

At any rate, on the Mac side (which would be a great way to go if you're a serious musician), Garage Band or Logic Express would work very well for you. No need to go all the way to Pro Tools to cut a decent album.

On the PC side, I believe Cakewalk will allow you to record out in separate tracks, but I don't know for sure as I don't really muck with PC's much anymore.

I know you've got some recommendations already, but the program I and others use at my college is Cubase. Can't say I've recorded any good stuff on there, but I hear it's a well known program for musicians.

(I have the LE version, although I'm planning to upgrade to SE soon)...
