He's eighteen years old. My parents still enforce a 1 o'clock curfew for him. He's not allowed to stay out all night. He wants to go out with his friends a drink. Typical eighteen-year-old stuff.

He's convinced that since he's 18, he should be treated as an adult, and be able to make his own decisions. Since my parents won't let him, he wants to move in with me.

My brother and I have a good relationship, so I really don't know what to tell him. I'm not going to let him, but I think I should at least try and explain how things really work.

Thoughts?

Tell him you value your own privacy and space and that having him there would infringe upon that.

nah, jag. that's too soft. He obviously wants to exploit his sibling. make it blatant and blunt

Where it stands, I'm simply going to tell him to get a job and get an apartment. If he thinks it's bad having a 1 o'clock curfew, just wait for the countless weekends where he won't be able to go out because he has to work. Or the money that goes toward taxes and payments instead of alcohol.

Alright, then tell him he's a punk-ass little b1tch who'll cramp your style, Boom, and that after living with him for 18 years you think that was enough and he can just f**k off and live in the gutter for all you care.

How's that?

i had no one to answer to....... hell I was living off cheese and my only source of heating food was my lamp...

but the fact that I could do whatever I wanted and never answer to anyone was worth the misery that first year.

I think telling him to get an apartment/job on his own is good . . . he'll have to mature just like we all do . . . that, or tell him to wait til he's at least 21 and on his own before you go moving in w/ each other . . .

If youre willing, go for it, but I suggest if he doesnt already you tell him to get a job and help with bills.

He's never had a job in his life.

If he wants to get away from home he should join the military like a real man.

Then no, trust me, it will become a problem if youre paying for everything and hes sitting around eating your food, watching your tv, playing your video games.
