Hey all - long time lurker here. Figured I'd finally create an account and start interacting with everyone now that I have something to gain out of it (Excelsior!) :)

Anyway, I wrote and directed a 10 minute short film that's about a fictional real life superhero that goes by the name White Knight. Instead of fighting crime, he dawns a costume to raise awareness to his cause of helping the homeless.

It's currently in its third film festival - Viewster's Online Film Festival #4 - and available to watch around the world. I read the forum rules and I think I'm allowed to link outside. Let me know if I broke any rules here. The link is:

I don't think any comic fans have watched it yet and being a huge comic and superhero film nerd myself, I would like to know what you all think. What did I do well, what did I screw up? It's my first film and I'm thinking of doing a web series in the same vein so I'd love some constructive criticism and feedback here (Don't make me regret saying that on a superhero board!).

Thanks all! Hopefully you enjoy it.

Solid. I liked it. Honestly, you get mad props for just having created something.

There seemed to be some real talent involved with this project. Even the lead actor. But I have to ask, did you write this yourself? It just seems like the story is already out there. Kick Ass, Phoenix Jones, even Batman.

Challenge yourself to do the thing no one else has. Or if you prefer the direction/cinematography just have someone else write for you/with you. Filmmaking is a group effort. That's my only constructive note. Well done man.

And welcome to the Hype!

Thanks pr0xyt0xin, I'm glad you liked it.

I agree that the lead actor is really talented. I was lucky to get him.

Yes I wrote it and directed it. I think you have a good point about the story. It is based off the real life superheroes like Phoenix Jones so good catch there. I struggled a lot with the script cause I just kept trying to do too much with it. In afterthought it probably would have worked better if I kept it simple as a mock documentary or something but live and learn right? A cowriter for future projects is a good idea though. Or at least a solid editor/idea person that understands the concept to make sure it stays on track.

I really enjoy both writing and directing but you're right, film is very collaborative. Unfortunately it's hard finding invested people who want to collaborate with you when you're just starting out. Now that I've finished one I'm hopeful next time around will be easier!

Thanks again for the feedback and the welcome to SHH!

I hope that you keep it up! As a writer myself, I understand the respect a finished product deserves.

Thanks Proxy, I intend to! I always enjoy reading work from other writers, so feel free to PM me if you ever need a second opinion on something.

Also, side note for anyone else who may stumble across this thread once the festival is over, White Knight has been accepted to another online festival running in January. I will post a link when I have it.
