I have to laugh my ass off at ALL of this lame, rediculous bickering. It's Purely PS3 Vs. X360 Fans going at it in here. "My system is better 'cuz of this!" "Nuh uh, MY system is better 'cuz of this." "Youre dumb!" "No, You are dumb..poopy head."

Let me give you a POV from someone who has a X360 and a PS3 (I've been in the market for a while, I'm 26, but ever since there was a SNES and Genesis to have, I've had both 'opposing' systems so as to enjoy what both have to offer.) I enjoy the games I have on the 360, that I can not get on PS3, like Dead Rising, DOA4, Gears of War and soon to be released Mass Effect etc. With my PS3, I am enjoying games such as Resistance: Fall of Man, and technically enhanded versions of games like Enchanted Arms, TESIV:Oblivion and The Darkness and I will soon be enjoying Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Lair and Heavenly Sword.
What it all comes down to is this. From an unbiased aproach, where one has the ability to enjoy the best of both worlds, these arguements seem petty and uneducated. Is Sony forcing people to buy a PS3? No. It comes with the built in ability to play DVD's AND Blue-Ray's. I don't see that as an arm twist. If you want to use it to play regular DVD's, go for it. Blue-Ray's, go for it. If you just want to play DVD's and want a cheaper gaming system, get a X360. Honestly though, if I wanted a HD experience and I had to choose one system, I'd take the PS3 with built in DVD and Blue Ray over a X360 and then having another bulky box connected to my console by an embilical cord. Take the 200.00 HD Player and the cost of an X360 and you pretty much have a PS3. Add on that a HDD for the 360, and you are at cost or MORE than a PS3 with less the memory.
I just purchased my PS3 which now comes standard with a 60GB Hard Drive built in, Blue Ray Player, DVD player and PS1/PS2 backwards compatibility. I'd say, as a whole package, the PS3 is a good deal. For gods sake, the 20GB Hard Drive for X360 is 100.00, tack on another HD DVD player for 200 and you are at 50% the cost of the PS3 already.
I have both, and I can apreciate both. This same DUMB arguement was done with the PS2 and XBOX, and both did well in the longrun. If you can't have both, please, don't ***** and moan to others about the system you don't have, and pick on it just to make yourself feel better. They are both GREAT systems with huge potential. This is the peek of gaming for gamers, more shared titles, great exclusives. Don't ruin it with this lame ass bickering because you only have one or the other.

um there hasnt been much PS3 vs 360 debates here in a while

Actually, the Wii is next on my list to get. I believe the Wii is so unique enough, and apeals to a much broader consumer base, that it is on the sidelines and out of the nasty foray that is the sony/microsoft battlefield. It will do fine regardless of what happens to/with Microsoft/Sony.

As for the arguements, I wrote this piece after reading the forum regarding Microsoft possibly adding a Blue Ray Disc addon for the X360 and the arguements that stemmed in there regarding armtwisting, overpriced systems etc.

People are always going to feel some loyalty toward a system, particularly if they can't afford to buy both. It's just the way of the world. We often cling to what we own.

It's not about the systems, it's about the games...and I'm sorry, but at this point the PS3 just doesnt have the games to be worth $600...hell, the Xbox 360 didnt have the games to be worth $400 when it first came out either...the WII is the only one thats current quality matches it's price at the moment, and I'd still actually argue it's about $50 too much...

You hit the nail on the head about the games and the prices. My library is pretty lackluster for the PS3 at the moment;

Resistance:Fall of Man
The Darkness
Transformers:The Movie
TES IV: Oblivion
Enchanted Arms
Virtua Fighter 5

Only two of which are, at the moment, Sony exclusives.
I ended up getting the PS3 not so much for the games that are out now, but 1) My ps2 finally kicked up it's heels and croaked and 2) I reeeally wanted Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Lair, Heavenly Sword, Final Fantasy XIII and Metal Gear Solid 4 (and God of War III which hasn't been officially confirmed but we all know it's coming).
I bought my X360 for Gears of War, Dead Rising, Splinter Cell Double Agent and Halo 3.
Neither system did I buy at launch. I waited untill they got the majority of the kinks worked out, and had some what of a library of games.
Now I know all about brand loyalty, but come on...do people really have to be hatefull? I can understand someone pronounceing a flay or a strength for their favorite/least favorite systems..but to downright bash ppl or utterly tear apart a system with, from what I've read, mostly exagerated or flat out false information just makes it seem that this part of the boards is filled with angst filled teens.
My final word on the subject is this; I don't love Microsoft, Sony, Sega, Nintendo etc. I love games. I'm a gamer, not a 'consoler'.

Thank you for letting me say my piece. Now, go play your PS3, X360, Wii, PS2, XBOX, Game Cube ...whatever, and have a blast.

thatreally does'nt say alot. unless your a nintendo fan. which i am not. the wii just does'nt have the games im interested like the xbox360(bioschock,mass effect, halo, lost oddessey, blue dragon, etc).

and i rather pay 600 for heavenly sword then pay 250 for a gaming library i have no interest in. heavely sword just looks soo freakin awesome, and you guys should check out the production footage, they actually use alot of motion capture stuff to create the game.
now, when i say i rather pay 600,thats if i has the cash to blow around, which i don't. but hopefully the price drops to 450.

but overall i agree with supes, go where the games you are interested in are.

You actually bought the Transformers game? Mercy.

But anyways, I think its not as broad as you painted out the whole "system war thing". I don't want to buy both because honestly, aside from a few games, there really are no exclusives anymore. I don't feel like putting down $1,000 for something that I do for maybe a few hours every other day either so I took a look at the two consoles and at their pros and cons. Of course with the PS3 you get Blu Ray, but to me I really don't care. I just see that as re-purchasing the same DVDs I already have at higher prices for a difference that I honestly wouldn't care about enough to spend the extra money on. Thats just how it breaks down for me and a lot of other people. I have an HD TV, nothing extravagant and thats fine for me and for playing games on.

But thats the problem that people like you seem to have is that you don't understand the majority of people buying these systems don't have the money to necessarily buy all of them and have a great entertainment set up for it as well. Thats the minority. And speaking for the majority of people right now, the 360 is the better route, mainly because of its games and as of now, better versions of the multi platform games. Just buy an extended warranty with it.

I think you misread or misunderstood what I was trying to say. I'm saying that the people who have one or the other, dont need to go about bashing each others preverbial heads in because of it. If you have a PS3 and such, YAY! Doesn't mean you have to go trying to bash those with a X360, telling them their games/system/setup/network sucks and vice versa. Do you see what I am saying? Because Nine times out of Ten what it comes down to is bashing for the sake of bashing because someone doesn't have one or the other. Yes, there is and should be system/company loyalty, but it doesn't have to get ugly and downright mean.
The reason I brought into play the fact that I have both, was to give a un biased, sidelines aproach. That is where I think you misunderstood me. I can honestly say that I am pleased with both systems.

I don't have either a 360, Wii, or PS3. I'm leaning toward a 360 because it has the most games I want to play. The Wii has none, and I have a good collection of emulated games on my PC. The PS3 has only one game I want to play (Metal Gear Solid 4), but I'm not the type of person that buys a brand-new system just for 1 game.

However, if someone just buys a Wii or just buys a PS3, and I stick with a 360 when I get one, I don't see a reason why that should bother me.

If I had a financial stake in either Microsoft, Nintendo, or Sony, then I "might" take more of an interest in what gamers buy. But I don't.

because it's gay?

Well this 'gay' little system has a bigger fanbase than that of the X360 or PS3 overall. Like I said earlier, I think the Wii will end up being successful on it's own, while the two monsters battle it out in the harsh world of gaming. It's going to be the tiny guy that just sneaks by, watches the big ones beat the snot out of each other, chuckles, and continues on it's merry way.

No I understand that people don't have to get ugly about it, but good debates are fine. Not all of them start out ugly, but a lot of them end that way, more than likely due to a vocal minority. My point was that for the majority of people that cannot buy both, the better choice is the 360 right now. Its OK to have a "fighting in everyone's corner" type view on the system wars, but the simple fact is the majority of people aren't willing to pay over $1,000 to do so and have to make a choice. And in the debates they defend their choice. Its just when people, like you said, bash for no reason or just make dumb comments, then thats where the problem is.

You are 100% correct.

I remember the harsh fighting back when the PS2 and XBOX were going at it. In the end, I think most people ended up with both systems. Also, in the end, both systems had a pretty darn good library.
I don't think some people realize that healthy competition is a good thing. If you didn't, game developers wouldn't try as hard to 'out do the other'. That is one thing that I am worried about with less and less exclusives out there. If every game is on every system, what's going to drive a developer to make something bigger and better? Unfortunately, when it comes down to it, it's a business. If a game company realizes they can make a game on a system for less money due to a half assed, cutting corners, hashed out aproach, and people will buy it because it is what it is, lets say, Halo 3 then that is no good. The hype machine will sell lots..but only for a while. To put it in prespective, Millions of people will go buy Halo 3, because it's Halo 3. If reviews came out a day or two before, and said it was an utter crap-fest, it would still sell millions because of the name. If there is no competition, there is no drive to be bigger and better. If the PS3 dies (which, if that happens, I'll eat my shirt), and it's just X360, I'm not sure that'd be a good thing. Sure, everything would come out on the 360, but it goes back to drive and motivation to make something bigger and better than 'the other guys'.

Did any of that make sense? lol
