I was watching A Hard Day's Night on DVD earlier this evening and started to think about how charismatic John was as a Beatle and how influential he was not as a solo artist but as political activist. Kinda weird to think the US Government wanted to ship him out of the country cause they considered him dangerous.

26 years after his death... fans still gather to Strawberry Fields in Central Park every year to pay homage to a man who meant so much to so many and to this day symbolizes something much more than a rock star.

A much-missed figure, Lennon has been the subject of numerous memorials and tributes, principally the Strawberry Fields Memorial, constructed in Central Park across the street from the Dakota building where he lived, and where he was shot. In 2002, Liverpool also renamed its airport the Liverpool John Lennon Airport, and adopted the motto "Above us only sky".

Every December 8 - the anniversary of his death - there is a memorial in front of Capitol Records on Vine Street in Hollywood, California. It includes speakers discussing Lennon, musical tributes, and group singing. A similar gathering takes place every year on his birthday, as well as on the anniversary of his death, at Strawberry Fields.

The 25th anniversary of John Lennon's death on December 8, 2005, was a particularly emotional milestone for Beatles and Lennon fans. Celebrations of John Lennon's life and music took place in London, New York City, Cleveland, and Seattle.

In a related note, the body of an unidentified male was found, head removed, body cavities filled with beatles memorabilia, crude letters that read "JLBats wuz here!" had been carved into the unfortunate man's chest.
his identity, and that of his killer, remain a mistery

I don't think Jlbats even really even likes the Beatles that much anymore:huh:

what do YOU know? anyway :cmad: :jlbats:

Apparently more than you:huh:

Honestly, Mr. Sparkle... I'm starting to think you don't know the real me at all:csad:

It's like somebody handed you a very crappily made profile of me and you were all "ZoInG! Like Beatles. Is teenager. Posts on Hype. This smudge here looks like it says "Emo". Time to run with it:cmad:".

In time, you seem to have felt you've come to know me, not just in Internet terms, but like some kind of ******ed little brother, or possibly cousin:yay:

I find it all very troubling. Maybe you should lie down. We can discuss the deliciousness of shoegazzery and bond over mutual dislike of celldog. Bring a bag lunch.

Peace and love, dude.*Off key guitar twang*

The word "concur" is useful, because it looks like "conquer" but contains "cur".

Please tell me all this John bashing is just for shock value. It's like pissing on Christmas. Hell, I'm an atheist and I can't argue with "Peace on Earth. Goodwill to Men."

Lennon's main philosophy was "Love". How the **** can you argue with that?

So? Doesn't mean I have to like the man.

Ex. Peta is supposedly around to benefit animals, but they're still a bunch of ****s.
(side note: I'm for humane treatment of animals. Peta is not the organization to support though)

No, can't say I'm fond of her choice of religions though.
