Codename: Shimmer

Real Name: Steven Maxwell Edison

Parents: Doreen Edison, mother (deceased); Maxwell Dillon (believed), father

Powers: Uncontrollable Ultraviolet light and radiation illuminates Steven's entire body causing temporary or perminent blindness.

Background: Unlike most mutants who discover their powers during adolescence, Steven Maxwell Edison was born as a great "ball of light." The traumatic birth killed his mother, a prostitute, during labor and perminently blinded everyone in the delivery room. The pandamonium brought on by this tragedy forced Professor Charles Xavier and Scott Summers to rescue the child from the authorities. Not much is known of his mother, but his father is thought to be Maxwell Dillon, the villain known as Electro.

As Shimmer, Steven must keep his entire body covered at all times to prevent the blindness of those around him. His uniform and clothes are designed to resist heat created by his light. Only Cyclops can look upon Shimmer and not be affected negatively.

Seen as a endless power source and "a means to sheed light on the world to the true nature of homo superior," many villains, including Apocolypse and Magneto, have tried to capture Shimmer to power their fiendish plots.

Due to his inability to be seen, Shimmer deals with constant bouts with depression similar to that of Rogue. Currently, Hank McCoy is working on a suit that will allow Shimmer to turn his powers on and off so that he can finally see the world with his own eyes.
