Summary:
The Science of Superman [TV-G]
Thursday, June 29, 2006, at 9PM

Superman. The ultimate super-hero. Faster than a speeding bullet. More powerful than a locomotive. He has enthralled audiences for decades with his superhuman strength, speed, vision and incredible abilities. Now, Science of Superman puts these powers to the test, revealing what's plausible based on the Earth-bound laws of physics, biology and astronomy, and what's pure science fiction. How might gravity, x-rays, ballistics and radiation apply to Superman if he was real?

NOTE: I put this in spoilers since they will be showing clips of the movie.

just wanted to let anyone know the 1 hour documentary is showing now on national geographic channel..and showing again in an hour :supes:

Anyone watching this? It's smart and interesting, but at the same time over-thinking at times. Like one guy said that when Superman caught Lois Lane in the air when she fell off the helipcoter in the `78 film the impact would be harder than her hitting the ground. BUT. . .Superman can slow down you know.

thanks,I had forgotten about it.

When next are they going to show this???

Man your're might proud of that thread of yours.

they'll show it a **** load of times, cause it's on NGC. it'll pry be on TLC too, and numerous times

Well it makes sense... Even if Superman slowed down to catch Lois she'd still be going from terminal velocity to zero. It'd be like hitting the ground. Supes would have to judge the persons speed, match it, grab onto her, and then slowly reduce their speed. Of course he doesn't have to do that due to Superhero magic, but since it IS a show about SCIENCE, I suppose they get to nitpick at it. They should have just said Superman uses the Speedforce :b

Well, they said that would have to happen if he had caught her at a lower level, closer to hitting the ground....I imagine b/c by then she'd have picked up a ton of speed. I think they mentioned that he managed to catch her near the top half of the building.
