Creator of The Last of Us Reveals New Sci-Fi Game

Neil Druckmann said Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, the adventure of a galactic bounty hunter, would be a story about faith.

"The story is quite ambitious," centering on a fictitious religion and "what happens when you put your faith in different institutions," The story is set in an alternative universe where space travel has significantly advanced by 1986.

But he said it was a return to Naughty Dog's roots in the action-adventure genre that helped build the studio's reputation with franchises like Crash Bandicoot. It takes inspiration, he said, from classic anime like the 1988 movie "Akira" and the 1990s series "Cowboy Bebop".

Druckmann said he was keenly aware that some gamers have eagerly awaited news about Intergalactic

"It's really hard to work on these things in secret and silence for so many years," he said, "and then to see our fans go on social media and say, 'Enough with the remasters and remakes! Where are your new games and new I.P.s?'"

He added, "We are finally starting to lift the curtain on this thing."

I raised my eyebrow seeing all the product placement. Since the inspiration is clearly from Akira and Cowboy Bebop, it makes sense.

The trailer looks good. I was surprised it was announced there and not on Sony's livestream show. I always wanted to see Naughty Dog's take on sci-fi action-adventure game especially on an alien planet, so this is kinda exciting. I'm already wondering about combat, exploration, cinematic cutscenes, the story....

The title though is quite long especially if this is a franchise starter. I'm assuming "Intergalactic" is the franchise name.

Probably the most annoying thing to me is this "protagonist syndrom" many have.
I get why the grifter do what they do...but i dont get the rest.
Why they are so hellbent on the idea that everything has to be for them, hast to cater to them.

This game doesnt interest you? Okay, move on.
Instead they take this as some personal attack that this game is not made to cater to them.
And that is one of the biggest problems social media caused.
This idea that everyone feels like they are the center of the universe.

Like, ive said it before i think...but im not a particular fan of games set in the Samurai setting.
So what i do is...just simply not play or talk about games that have that.
I dont demand that Samurai games cater to me, i dont make whiny videos about how the east ruins gaming because they make many games with the setting.
I find it awesome that for fans of that setting, many games are avaliable.
I move to games that interest me, are done for me...thats it.

I dont demand that these games are changed or so, i just accept they arent for me...and that its okay.

Can Sony release a new Cd player as well? Seeing all those CDs in the trailer, and being played on a Sony player when CDs aren't even playable in Ps4/5... I've been buying plenty of cds these past few months and I would like to buy a new CD player from Sony, as I have a PlayStation and a Sony TV.

I don't think they will be releasing any pure CD player but their standalone DVD and Blu-ray players all handle CD. The DVD players should be possible to find cheap if one is only looking to play CDs.

The last standalone DVD player I had was Sony, which I used to play CDs. But I didn't like that I needed to connect it to the TV just to hear music. I tried to look for cd players online (Phillips, Sony), nothing convinced me as they didn't look brand new/authentic. I saw a Phillips cd player in person, but the speakers aren't intact to the player, which I didn't like as I can't carry it easily. Basically, there's not a lot of good options for me.
