NBC's Cruel Intentions picks up more than 15 years after the 1999 movie left off. The drama follows the beautiful and cunning Kathryn Merteuil (Gellar) as she vies for control of Valmont International as well as the soul of Bash Casey (Taylor John Smith), son of her brother, the late Sebastian Valmont, and Annette Hargrove. Upon discovering his late father’s legacy in a hidden journal, Bash is introduced to a world of sex, money, power and corruption he never could have imagined. Sophinia Brown will co-star.

Gellar's NBC Kathryn is described as a master manipulator who easily hides her self-serving machinations behind a facade of charm, poise and warmth. The woman behind the scandal involving Bash's mother, Annette Hargrove, Kathryn is now married to the wealthy Pascal Barrett and spearheads an inspiring youth rehabilitation movement, as well as being involved in a local private school. The stepsister of Sebastian Valmont, Kathryn is privately shaken by the arrival of Sebastian's son, Bash, and the re-appearance in her life of the girl she wronged years ago, Annette Hargrove Casey. A force of nature, Kathryn has many secrets in her life.
Goddamn, I hope the writing is on point. People seemed to like the musical last year, and this has the same writers, so fingers crossed.

SMG! My queen! :hrt:

Hope this works out for her. She's been unlucky with her TV comebacks.

Kathryn is privately shaken by the arrival of Sebastian's son, Bash, and the re-appearance in her life of the girl she wronged years ago, Annette Hargrove Casey

I guess they're recasting Reese's role? Assuming it's a bigger part. If it's a cameo, she might be persuaded to come back.

They better not recast Reese's role.

SMG or bust

Selma Blair or bust. :o

Reese would be nice, but if Annette's a regular, I doubt it's gonna happen. Make her a guest for the pilot, with the possibility to pop in again from time to time, like they seem to be doing with Bradley Cooper on Limitless, and it might be possible.

very very happy SMG is back.

they are recasting annette right now. any suggestions?

Who they really need back...

This is the best news in a long time. One of my queens returned to TV(Gillian Anderson), and now my other #1 is coming back.
I'm so happy. Best news to wake up to.

The guy playing the lead role, Taylor John Smith....he is hot and gorgeous.

He played a gay character on the show "American Crime".

Looks interesting. Glad to see SMG back on TV again. Continuation, love it.

She looks better in dark hair, I honestly don't know why she goes blonde as often as she does.

"Everybody does it. It's just that nobody talks about it."

"Everybody loves me and I intend to keep it that way."

That whole "I'm the Marcia Brady of the Upper East Side" rant...

I hope older Kathryn is still just as quotable. I love that character so much. :hrt:

I need to see the pilot like right now.

SMG is what makes this worth revisiting. If it didn't have her, I really don't think it'd stand a chance.

Though SMG has been sort of TV cursed since Buffy, so I hope this doesn't become another one.

She should just get new management really, get her some better roles.

See I really only didn't like Ringer.

I enjoyed Crazy Ones for what it was. Was actually kind of sad when it got cancelled, but I suppose it was for the best as it's cancellation would have been that much more worse if it had continued and Robin died while it was on the air.

It just kind of sucks (but is exciting as well) that she has to return to an old infamous character to maybe have a shot at TV success again.
