Okay, so I bought an LG DVD Burner. I have never burned a DVD, I know most DVD players only recognize MPEG2 formats.

My problem is, that I have a ton of MP4s and such that I would like to convert to MPEG2.

My bigger problem is that I don't have any DVD burning software. The burner I purchased SAYS it comes with PowerDVD and LG Burning Tool, yet neither of which can be found on my computer after installing the disc and drivers, so I am left to wonder if that is false advertising on LG's part as my system search doesn't pull anything for LG.

My question is: does anyone know of any legal freeware that converts video files to Mpeg2 and can burn them to DVD?

I would try to reinstall the software.

The DVD burner that I have was the same way, and it all installed with no problem....and works fine.

Yeah I reinstalled it about 4 times now.

I am just clueless on the whole DVD burning thing, I have burned CD's and data discs for over 10 years and never messed with DVDs untill now.

Mainly I need a software that can convert various video formats to MPEG2, unless DVD softwares automatically convert video files to MPEG2 upon burning them. I am so confused!

I dL'ed the first program, Troy. Looks good but I dont have 900MB iof available RAM to decrypt the DVDs. Anyway around that?

"Memory: At least 256 MB of free physical RAM, 512 MB or more is recommended. When using Windows Vista, at least 512 MB is required."

900mb? Lol, it shouldn't be that much. :|

I have 18GB of Ram on my PC and when I do video editing I occasionally get the message that (Not enough RAM). I believe this has to do with set limits in virtual memory.

I would suggest if you are doing any encrypting, rendering, dvd-authoriing, etc, to turn off all other applications, including disconnecting from the internet and turning off all anti-virus /firewall and other applications running from the task bar.
