Hey everyone, who thinks we need a Batman next-gen game? Not Lego Batman that doesn't count. In this thread, we can write down and come up with a wish list of what we'd wanna see in a Next-Gen Batman game.

Things I'd like to see:

-Multi-Branching Storyline. (You affect how the story unfolds throughout ur actions in the game)

They're making a game for the new movie if that counts. One besides the lego one. It just hasn't been confirmed what systems it will be on. But I'm sure the 360 and PS3 won't be ignored.

I think it would be cool if we had a batman game where you could go around gotham city. You'd have to be able to use the batmobile and the batcycle as well though. And when I say batmobile, I mean the cooler older versions. Not that tumbler thing. That's that only thing I don't like about the new batman movies.

And I hope that if they do make a batman man game, it doesn't turn out like Batman: Dark Tomorrow. Worst xbox game I ever played. I should have known better when I got it for $5. Horrible.

Are you sure? With one month to go until The Dark Knight hits, we have heard NOTHING on a game based off of it. Its been rumored(dont know if its been confirmed yet tho) that Pandemic is working on a Batman title but its not known if itll be based on TDK.

If they were making a TDK game, we would have heard about it by now. At the moment, the only confirmed Batman game is LEGO Batman.

Once that I WANT a movie-game, they don't do it. Just think how cool this game would be. Doing a detective work, driving Bat-mobile, saving Gotham and fighting freaks.

Someone never played the Batman Begins game :o

I have too many things I want from a next Gen Batman game...

Free-Roam detective work being the most unlikely two...

To be contrary:
Why does Batman need a Branching storyline? Either you succeed in saving Gotham or you don't... it's not like Batman's trying to decide whether to be good or evil...

Yea I wouldn't want that ethier.I want a game where you can Explore Gotham to it's fullest and stop crime.By rooftop,Batmoblie,Batcycle or hell even Batboat or Plane if possible. Also after completing the main story with bats it be nice to be able to explore the city with Nightwing or Robin. Also while Exploring random crimes could happen.it could be awesome.

There's no news ANYWHERE about a game to tie in with The Dark Knight so it's pretty foolish to assume it's happening, especially at this late stage.

exactly. i'd be up for a game that has the look of TNBA. although, it'd be really cool to see 'em pull off a Long Halloween/Dark Victory game. Sale's art would be interesting to see in a video game one day.

There's no TDK game.

And I don't think we're ever going to get the GTA Batman game that everyone wants.

Because I cannot see any developer getting the needed 4 or 5 years to work on the game.

GTA IV got about 5 or 6 years of work built into it from start to finsish.

Batman would be lucky if he got a 3 years of work built into it. And Batman doesn't seem to be with any developer for longer than one game, a few with Ubisoft even though they kept switching from action to driving to beat em up.

If Batman could stay with a developer as long as Spidey has been with Activison, for example, then maybe they can slowly build what everyone wants. And by a third game, finally give us the end all-be all Batman game.

But I don't see that ever happening, because we're so critical of any developer's first try that we destroy them for the game and then the license gets handed off to someone else and we're screwed again.

So, I'm putting all my eggs in the Lego Batman game. I'll let a higher power create a miracle in making the Batman game happen.

If Pandemincs codename "B" game turns out to be Batman, then it will have been in production for at least 3 year, and is supposedly free roam. So...There's that.

Yeah, but at this point it's sort of a myth.

Unless they're aiming for the DVD release, although usually with videogames they'd have atleast had a screenshot or announcement by now.

I'd be truly surprised if the Project B from Pandemic turns out to be The Dark Knight game.

The videogame industry loves to hype it's products like crazy. It's just so strange for them to stay this quiet on something like that for this long.

A Batman game with 3 years of development would be very promising. I say that without even knowing what the gameplay is or anything, but 3 years of work on it would have to mean atleast some good stuff.

Batman Beyond would be perfect for a next gen game.
(free roam)

SORRY guys! my computer froze and i kept hitting the post button. I'm not trying to spam or anything...

I dont think it's going to be a Dark Knight game...just a Batman game.

I think originally there was supposed to be a batman game based on the new movie but they were keeping it under wraps. It could be that they abandoned the game all together or maybe they're making an under wraps batman game that will stand alone away from the movie. I'm not sure. But it'd be nice to see a batman game that was worth playing.

I'll be honest though, while I know a lot of people didn't like the batman begins game, I thought it was actually pretty good. Or at least a lot better than I would have expected it being a movie game and all.

I'd like a free-roaming Batman game like the Spidey & Hulk games. Roaming around Gotham would be awesome.

the batman and robin game (yes based on the terrible movie) was actually the first to attempt it.

and on the psone. it was pretty impressive even though it had its problems...

"There are rumors kicking around that Pandemic is developing a new Batman game (which, for the record, would be sweet), but so far there has been no official announcement of a game based on The Dark Knight. Not only is this incredibly odd, it’s too late for one to be announced. EA still controls the rights, and they’re not exactly ones to shy away from the easy money of a movie tie-in. What gives? There’s a lot more going on here than you might expect.":

This guy brings up some good points. In a gist, his article states that WB had hired EA to develop games for Batman Begins, Superman Returns and Catwoman. All of these games had less than stellar reviews and WB was less than pleased by the efforts. As a result, the much smaller Pandemic studios was given the development job for a TDK game. EA flipped out and claimed they still had the licensing rights...next thing you know...EA buys Pandemic. WB, according to the author's speculation, may have canned the game completely to keep Batman out of EA's hands forever.

If this is all true, then it's good news and bad news. The good news is, WB realizes that Batman is a license worthy of greatness, and they are no longer going to allow big developers like EA tarnish the character with crappy, mediocre tie-in games. The bad news is that there may not be a TDK game at all now because of Pandemic's ties to EA...or at least until EA is expired from or bought out of any contractual agreements.

I sincerely hope Batman finally gets his just due on a current and next gen console...if Spidey can have 4 solid games why can't Batman have one?

Hopefully WB has just been hawking the secret production of this game...carefully supervising every step while waiting for the right time to release the right information.

WB has actually penalized game designers of percentages in the past if critical reviews are below a certain average. It shows they care about their product which is refreshing to hear for a bunch of suits. Could be they didn't like the direction in this case and said "F it...if it's not perfect, it's not comin out!"...But to be honest...I know this may be the wrong mentality...but I'd rather have a slightly above average Batman game on a next gen console than no Batman game at all.

And I'm talking about a massive free roam Batman game...on an engine similar to Assassin's Creed. I don't care for Batman as a lego ( awwww lookit The Joker, innee cute? ) or Batman vs. a 90's has-been side-scrolling Sub-Zero in a cross over universe that makes no EFFING sense at all .

I can see it now....

Guy walking out of theater into Game Stop: "Wow! That was intense ! That was the darkest and most chilling Batman movie ever! Heath Ledger's Joker was so sick, twisted and utterly terrifying ! If only some one could combine the dark universe of Batman with the light hearted wholesome fun of Lego...wait...what's this?? Lego Batman!!!"

I don''t think WB canned the game because EA bought Pandemic. While EA bought Pandemic, Pandemic is still....Pandemic. Same with BioWare for example. Sure EA has control over those companies, but they're like they were before. At least that's what I think.

I think they're making a Batman videogame, but since they know that movie games don't do well, they've decided to give the developers more time to make it. It might not even have any connection to the movie. We'll see. I just hope we get a new Batman game, other than Lego Batman, which will still be cool, but a non Lego Batman videogame could be cooler.

How about a game based on the comics? Ultimate Spiderman was kinda fun and had great art direction, movie tie-in's for the most part suck balls.
