need some help with "Audacity" on Vista

so, when ever i try to record something, i get an error message saying that i should check input device settings... the thing is, i have no idea how to, i tried going through the help topics and other stuff but i just cant seem to find the bloody thing, anyone here know how i can solve this problem?

Look in the control Panel...(not a Vista expert)

First off see if maybe it's not audacity. Go to start, apps, entertainment, voice recorder and test 'er out. If it doesn't work go to control panel then go to sound devices then advanced and test hardware. Run through the setup and let me know what happens.

so, i plugged in something at the back and i got a recording device but Audacity still wont record anthing.
