Need To Get A Credit Report

freecreditreport.com They make you sign up for a membership, but the first week or so is free. Just remember to cancel the membership before they start billing you after the freebie.

I swear I thought this would be spam when I clicked it.

U need long sex time? 3.99$!

Also I thought Freecreditreport.com was supposed to be a bad place? Could've sworn there was some negative things about them.

Apply for a credit card. They give you a credit score in their response. Worst case scenario, you have a new credit card you didn't want or need....

or freecreditreport.com

No, the worst case scenario is being denied a card which hurts your credit, and the hard inquiry the company makes to check his credit hurts his credit, too, so he's got two bad marks and nothing to show for it.

I've not had any trouble with freecreditreport.com. you just need to remember to cancel your membership before the free trail runs out.

You'll have to do some digging as I don't know the site, but the gov does allow you one free soft inquiry per year.

You never seen a freecreditreport. com commercial?

I went to my bank when I got mine.

Actually you're legally obligated to have one free credit report a year, no strings attached. But you don't go to freecreditreport.com, you go to http://www.annualcreditreport.com/ Annualcreditreport.com is actually authorized by the FTC to give out real free credit reports, not any other site. But nobody knows about it because they only know the jingle for the other paid site. :funny:

Mmm, marketing. :oldrazz:

For a while my credit card provider was WaMu and they would actually have your credit score displayed when you checked your account. But alas, no more. :csad:

Just don't be shocked if your score is not what you thought. I got quite the surprise when mine was lower than I assumed.

There are three credit bureaus. Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian. You can contact each of them directly and, by law, they are required to send you a free copy every year AS WELL AS, any me you are denied credit based on their report. Google search the names for their contact information and how to order the reports. Skip the services, as thy only give you wmyour score, not the detailed report.

There's a lot of little things that go into it, not just "does this guy pay his bills on time." There's length of credit history, debt-to-credit ratio (maxing out your credit cards is never a good idea), how many accounts you have, how many "hard inquiries" do you have, etc.

I think anything over 700 is considered "good", and anything over 750 is like "stop bothering trying to get it to 850 already." :funny:

Keep in mind, your credit report does not equal getting your score. The credit report is just to check that nobody's stolen your identity and that there aren't any negative things on it, like late payments.

Getting your actual score is pretty hard, since FICO uses proprietary formulas and such, and you often have to pay to get your score. I've used http://www.creditkarma.com/ and it's free and gives a good estimation and tells you how they got to the number.

Wow, what a great and interesting thread to bump, cheskamint13!!! You sure have a bright future ahead of you on the Hype!!

It's good that this was bumped. I have since found out that you can get a free credit report from all three credit report whatevers by going to the IRS. But you can only get it once a year.
