Neil Blompkamp's Chappie

I liked both trailers. I was disappointed in Elysium, but I still believe in Blomkamp.

I loved D9 but I'm not sure why he seems to want to cling to that environment? Both Elysium and Chappie sort of look like they could inhabit the same world as D9. The sort of dystopian slum environment.

He might as well just come out with a straight up D9 sequel at this point.

The 1st battalion insignia from District 9 was in the new trailer for Chappie.

It's his comfort zone. He grew up amongst that ****, so he kinda pushes it in every flick. The outcast, the downtrodden, etc. Though I do hope Marvel or DC snaps him up to do a flick so we can see what he does in a different scope. Frankly I'd like to see him do Aquaman or Namor...just someplace where there's a lot of water as opposed to dirt. :o

I agree, he may as well do District 10 after this while it is still in his system.

They actually gave the mocap actor top billing? Huh. Also, what are they looking to give this, a PG-13?

He's the perfect choice for a Cyborg movie IMHO. Especially if he uses clean 2001/Interstellar style environments.

That poster is bad.

Pretty sure this is R. Cant see any of Blomkamp's original stuff being less than R. Word from test screenings is that the film is much darker than it looks. I cant wait. D9 is in my top 3 films and Elysium has grown on me.

Blue and orange. Every movie poster looks like body spray.

Looks like Jackman and Petel are walking through a warzone fresh out of Harvey Nicks.

But this does look pretty interesting.

when i first watched the trailer, the white haired girl stood out as someone who could ruin the movie for me. Then i found out that shes from some band/group die antwoord that like everyone online seems to hate. Crazy how 2 seconds can make you feel that way. I went on a weekend trip with a flatemate and his coursemates. They listend to this group in the car the whole ride up. It was the first time since i 'discovered' die antwoord that i heard people say they liked them.

I like the girl in the trailer, but that has more to do with my awful taste in women.

Did not know this was out so early, looking forward to hearing some reviews.

Huh, figured he might go for a hard PG-13 considering the title character. Brats are gonna want to see this one.

I should have expected the R rating but I really didn't expect it.

Wait, Copely actually gets billed first? That's pretty surprising.

I'm surprised about the rating too. I figured the story would be good for younger audiences as well.

Anything with Die Antwoord in it is not going to be PG13.:woot:
