Animation Netflix’s Tomb Raider Anime | Hayley Atwell

Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft arrives exclusively to Netflix on Oct. 10, 2024.

just saw it earlier was hoping to hear Hayley's voice as Lara in it but alas, nope maybe a future trailer will have it.

A fun trailer that hits the right notes for me.
Im hyped for what is to come.
The Anime, the live action show, the movie, the game.

I didn't know this project existed. Very happy to hear about it and look forward to seeing it. There's a lot more they can do with Lara Croft in games and animation/live action.

No one has ever explained why it's not Camilla Luddington voicing the character in this series. It's her version of the character. It's a continuation of her trilogy. Yet they recast the role. Why? No one is saying why. I don't get it.

It's probably because Hayley Atwell has been in the MCU off and on over the past decade and Netflix probably wanted a higher-profile actress to provide the voice.

But you're right; this is Camilla Luddington's version of the character. She should be the one providing the voice. :(

I'm watching it now and episode 1....definitely a modern Netflix animated series....

Probably not how i'd start things off. But we'll see how it rounds out.

From the reviews, this show seems pointless, and doubles down on things about the reboot games I am sick of.

I finished it. It didnt really get better. Still generic as hell and sadly completely forgettable. TR is my FAVORITE videogame franchise and....it deserved better.

They do recreate a fight from the games.

I watched 3 episodes and its…fine. Not bad not great. I’m not particularly compelled to finish it though. I cant describe why but from the get go it kept me at arms length.

Okay, I haven't finished watching the show but I've gotten through a fair bit of it.

I think its a mixed bag. Some fun stuff, some good stuff, and a fair amount of cringe.

Jonah is absolutely annoying in this. He is a nag. He is upset Lara won't spend Christmas with him and his love interest from Shadow, who he is getting married to. He is upset Lara is not wanting to spend time in Croft Manor. He is upset Lara doesn't want him coming along. He seems more obsessed about Lara's life than his own. He is getting married, but all he seems to care about is what Lara, a grown ass woman, is doing with her own life. And then they do the thing again where they tease his death, only to reveal that he's still alive and mind controlled by the villain. And honestly, mind controlled Jonah was the best version of this character. When he was beating up Lara and going off on her about how her grief doesn't make her special, that she isn't the only one who's lost people... it felt like he was speaking for fans who hate how Lara has been written the past decade. It was the most entertaining and interesting the character of Jonah has ever been.

I still don't understand why Lara wore converse sneakers with her dress. She wasn't expecting to go into action, so she didn't do it for that reason. The dress looked terrible. For me, its not how Lara Croft should look in that type of setting. Its like James Bond wearing sneakers while in his tux at a party. I don't like it.

And what is up with Lara going into multiple adventures on this show without a gun? Roth's daughter is packing heat with her at one point, but Lara either sticks with her ice ax or her bow and arrow. I don't get it. Even in the Survivor games, Lara uses multiple guns (pistol, shotgun, assault rile). What is the deal here?

The lack of guns probably boils down to guns are bad mmkay. I definitely think the ice axe would be a more violent death. But shooting someone with a bow has the potential to be long and drawn out death. Yes a poorly placed gun shot can produce similar results as a poorly placed bow shot. In reality the end result is the same but one object is considered more scary than the others.

Finished it, its fine.
At first glance it doesnt really add anything new that really builds towards the next game.
It doesnt really evolve or move Lara forward, not more or less than the games did.
For what it is, its fun...but nothing that is the next evolution of Tomb Raider.

IMHO I feel like this series came too late. Shadow of the Tomb Raider literally came out over six years ago.

personally I loved it Hayely was awesome as Lara
