Hey all I am curious if anyone uses Netflix and if you do how well does it work, are the disc in good shape when you get them? How long does it usually take to get the disc...etc? Any help would be appreciated.

I use it and it's excellent. Turn around time is usually 2 days or so. And of the several hundred DVDs I've gotten in the last three years I've only got a handful of discs that were in bad shape and wouldn't play.

The only real problem I've ever had is that sometimes if you want to get a new release you can end up waiting a while for it if a lot of people want it.

unless it's during the weekend, it's usually next day for me. and the discs are always in top shape.

I've been a member for 6 years now and I love it. I get the 4 at a time and when I ship a disk back I get a new one in about a day. So I send it Monday, by Wednesday I have a new one. It helps that there is a hub in my town too. I have received broken disks and scratched ones a couple times and they are pretty cool about it. I also had one get lost in the mail and they were cool with that as well. I'm sure if it happens a lot they will charge.

Amen. And I hate how you're talking to someone about movies, and you go "Whoah! You haven't seen FLASH GORDON?!?"
and then they go, "No, but it's in my queue!"

(and, uh...this is suddenly Merry Ol' England?:down)

So seriously, 5 months go by and I'm all "Why haven't you mentioned FLASH GORDON yet? and they go "Oh, well it's in my QUEUE."

SO what we used to call "Gay" before the PC-Police took over the world.

Netflix, in a word, is AWESOME.

I get seven at a time - 5 tv series discs and 2 movies. I could never watch all of the tv shows I've seen through Netflix, because I never could watch them on my own schedule.

As to the whole queue thing, it just doesn't compute. You get pissy with people because movies are in their queue that they probably won't see? That just means they're watching what they WANT to see and not just disc surfing through a video store.

I hate going to the video store. They never have what you want and you have to deal with the hassle of going to and fro. Screw that. Netflix's turn around is very speedy. It generally takes only a day to get movies, and a day for them to return. On average, with my plan, I watch probably five discs a week. That's 20 dvds a month at least. Now go to Blockbuster and try to figure out what that would cost you, plus gas for your car and late fees because it's such a pain in the a**.

If you're looking for a recommendation, I couldn't recommend it more.

Its a pretty good service the discs are usually in good condition but once in a while it may be scratched, just make sure to call them as soon as you find out so they know in advance that the disc has been damaged. Other than that Netflix is great.

Its pretty good when you want to watch old movies or tv shows. Your gonna have to wait a while for like new releases but I end up renting new releases anyways. But I think im going to cancel netflix because I think im conscience is catching up to me after burning all those movies! I probably saved a total of 500 + bucks from burning all those movies:(

I was with Netflix for a while with a special deal because I worked at Suncoast. I loved it, but after I left, and lost the special deal, I switched to Blockbuster online because it was a buck cheaper a month. Big mistake. The movies took twice as long to arrive (If I returned one on Monday, I could forget having a new one for the next weekend) and they regularly didn't send me what was at the top of my list. They would jump way down to six or seven. Even older titles were hard to get. I had The Fugitive as my #1 choice for over two months and never did get it. I finally got fed up and switched back to Netflix. I had The Fugitive in two days.

    Blockbuster online is better.

I have never had those problems you had. When you make your que, it sometimes shuffles a bit at first, and you have to fight it go get it right. Maybe you didn't realize that was happening.

And I never had a problem with turnaround.

My friend goes to Stop & Shop and she pays a dollar a movie I believe, she said that its better than going to Blockbuster or using Netflix.

I would describe this as very typical of most block buster users. Their online service sucks ass!

Thanks again all for your input...I just got notice that my first disc has been shipped...I will see how long it takes to get here but I am concerned that I am not close to any of their distrobution centers so it may take a few days to get the DVDs which would not make it worth it in the long run...guess I will have to see what happens. Thanks again.

I'm a former Netflix user and a current Blockbuster online user. I kind of like blockbusters set up on line a little better. Other then that I think they're close to being the same.
