Castlevania has been automatically greenlit for at least two seasons (or a first season to be released in two separate chunks). The Belmont family will definitely be making their streaming debut later this year – although likely not in October, when*Stranger Things*season 2*arrives – and aiming to*dominate*in all of their vampire-slaying glory.

As noted by*io9, the*Castlevania*TV series is most likely*being developed by*Adventure Time‘s Frederator Network (who teased his involvement near the end of 2016) and*produced by Adi Shankar – known for his*Power Rangers fan film that garnered a lot of attention in 2015.

Awesome. I wonder what time period it'll be set in.

I don't believe it. I was sure they'd make a movie.

Castlevania?

I'm intrigued.

It seems like the show is going to be based on Castlevania III from what Shankar has said. At least the first season anyway.

Fantastic news. It'll be good to fill the void between releases of Berserk.

I've only ever beaten the one game but I do like the storylines I've read about.

Exclusive: ‘Castlevania’ Producer Adi Shankar Teases Animated Series’ R-Rated ‘Game of Thrones’ Vibe

R-rated Castlevania animated series? Me likey. :D

This could be really good.

If this does well, we may finally get that Zelda show after all. Whatever happens, I am hype! :D

Not gonna lie, I'm wary of Shankar's involvement. He was the one that made that cringeworthy trailer for a dark n' gritty Power Rangers version.

How long will the episodes actually be? Is this going to be a legit TV series or micro-shorts?

I think some articles stated that S1 will 4 episodes and the runtime will be around 30 minutes each episode.

That's more like a mini-series than anything. That's basically one animated feature right there.

Also he did produce and help shepherd the 2012 Dredd movie.

My hope is that since it's animated it can look like the games, and since it's animated we can get four episodes of high quality animation without cutting a lot of corners.

Actually that's half right

Netflix's CASTLEVANIA series will debut with Season 1, Part 1 later this year, with the entire presentation being broken up into four parts, each episode will have a runtime of nearly 30 minutes. No idea when Part 2 will be released or how many episodes that will have

Shankar's sensibilities are perfect for Castlevania in my opinion. I mean yeah, he's an odd guy who sees white power messages in the DC Universe and walks around wearing eye makeup all day, and he did that POWER/RANGERS short film, but he's the right producer for something like Castlevania based on his previous projects and his comments regarding this one. He gets what people would want from a Castlevania adaptation I believe.

Plus, Warren Ellis wrote all the episodes and he feels like a really good fit, so I don't see much of a reason to be concerned.

So they're not doing the usual Netflix thing by releasing the entire season at once?

So it's the Castlevania anime.

Looks better than the judge dredd animation series he did.

Sweet. Wasn't expecting it to be anime-like but eh.
