Fantasy Netflix's The Witcher - General Discussion Thread

I can see Eva Green as anything because she is beautiful and talented.

Nobody is doubting she's beautiful or talented. She would be fantastic in a million roles. Just joking that any role that comes up fans shout for her.

You guys. You KNOW I don’t comment on casting. I never have. I never will. Except... One very special lady, who I saw several options for today:

Well good to know they are picking out horses to play Roach, I suppose.

If they really are going to start filming so soon, I would think they have their other big leads cast or are very close.

I'm pretty sure all the leads are cast and production teams are already building sets.

Neither Ferguson as Triss or Green as Yennefer work for me. Just nope.

I'm only going to say this once, bald man. Ferguson can play your granddaddy and your love interest in the same movie, and you will thank her and politely ask for more.

Is it wrong that i want to see that movie?

just waiting for the Mark Hamill announcement...

A lot of people are upset over it, especially Polish people.
Polish people have the biggest right to be upset, because it's their baby. I'm not Polish, but I'm upset to the point that if that happens, it means I'm not the target audience and there's no reason for me to watch it.

Why would casting Ciri as a non white girl give you no reason to watch it? The target audience is obviously fantasy etc....and witcher fans...so if you aren't a fan of those... Don't watch it then. It's a fresh take on the series. I am of the mind to give it a shot.

also Yennefer

It's not a hill I feel like dying on, but it just seems like another way for Hollywood to act #Woke. I'm not going to abstain from watching the show if Ciri is non-white. To me it's simply a matter of the world that's been established, she wouldn't be.

If they do go forward with this, they will probably make some lame thing about Elder Blood, people of Elvish descent look different, blah blah blah.

Because that's not how I see fantasy inspired by medieval Europe. Because that's not how Ciri looks in the books and the game.

well then don't watch it?

the "woke" thing is going to happen whether you are for it or against it... Believe me, I'd rather it all be accurate. But given the times now, we've got to accept some things and move forward right?

I think Ciri should be ass pale white lol, but **** happens. Not gonna stop me from watching.

I kind of figure stuff like this was bound to happen considering how outspoken Lauren Hissrich is about her progressivism. I'm just glad it didn't have to touch Geralt of Rivia and we avoided that whole ****storm.

Now, it's happening to Ciri. Granted, she hasn't even had her casting announced yet. Basically, I will mainly sit this one out and eat popcorn while the progressives and fans fight this out tooth and nail.

That's what I'm going to do, like I said in my initial post. If this happens. They can "woke" all they want, but not at my expense.

its such a weird thing to talk about and debate too... its just awkward.

so you won't watch the show... at all... if this happens?

How about we all wait for the offical casting announcement before we start to overreact?

I mean I agree with that, but when is fandom ever rational? LOL. But look it was bound to happen after that casting description came out.

I'm sure the producers are going to say Ciri's skin color or whatever is social commentary for what's going on in our country now or whatever. And we'll get lots of think pieces on various websites about how great this is from The Mary Sue, Vulture, The Verge, Polygon, and Kotaku.

I WON'T. Just like I wouldn't watch LOTR with bame Aragorn.
