Can understand why they have done it and have some sypathy. Normandy got slated for having a white cast as did witcher 3. Yes we should have diversity. I just feel bad for the polish and slavs (slav is the name where slave comes from and have had a bad time through history). At the end of the day we could be on the grounds of americans culturally appropriating slavic culture.

I just hope this doesn't damage ratings too much so that the show is cancelled. Battlefield v has seen a backlash.

It's a western hypothesis of XVIII century. Basically, "slave" and analogues in other western countries come from Greek Latin, that sounds similarly to славяне. There's no proven relation between. As well as there's no proven origin, only speculation.

I'm hispanic and could give a rats ass about representation in favor of staying true to source material. Like I feel this representation debate is from a small minority because for the most part I haven't met a single hispanic who cares about it.

Should there be more hispanic actors? Sure. If Oscar Isaac was cast to replace RDJ as Tony Stark I wouldn't care because he's a great actor. But this whole argument is getting ****in stale and I hate race changing characters for the hell of it or because its "progressive"

Origin of the word slavs/славяне is speculation. There are numerous theories. English word "slave" originates from Latin "sclavus". "Sclavus" is speculated to originate from numerous Greek words that mean similar thing and sound similarly to slavs. Where do these words come from is open question. The problem is, phonetic similarity doesn't mean the words have the same origin and meaning. It can be very much accidental. Just like in modern languages.

I don't understand how this is ok as long as it "respects" the story when the story is based on Slavic lore . Why race bend for sake of race bend? Black Panther was a perfect example of an African story that represented Africans, and Crazy Rich Asian is the perfect Asian American/Singaporean story that did as much. If you want more representation, then do stories that at it's core represents those you want represented. Don't race bend for the lulz, and that goes both ways.
