On another thread, they compared the new HT Batman Begins to the old Takara version, touting that the new HT head sculpt is far superior, probably partly in fact because of Michael Crawford's review. I re-examined my Takara and compared it against Batman Begin pictures, and re-examined the new HT head sculpt, then compared to MWC's review, and frankly, this would be the first time I'd disagree with Michael. The Takara face is STILL the most accurate sculpt. The only 'inaccuracy' I could find in the Takara is the nape area, which is a little thin because the head is separate from the neck. Granted the HT got that near enough, but no way is the HT head/face superior, the Takara is almost 100% true to Bale. I'd give in to say the HT body is a little more accurate, but real life anatomy is totally different when translated to sculpted form, especially when it comes to comic characters. To translate Bale's/Batman's body into a toy/figure would only show him as fat and chunky, and that's what HT and Medicom made it out to be. The comic-book-like Takara body is a lot more anatomically desirable than a fat Batman.
The new HT head sculpt is too long, the eyes are not fear-inspiring, the triangular cape locks are in the wrong place, the neck is too fat and too long, and they still didn't manage to at least fake some articulation for the head. They sacrificed head/neck articulation just to get movie accuracy, and still their head sculpt came out inaccurate.
And so many complained about the Takara shoes too, but for me it's a small gripe, no big deal.
So, if you're looking for the most accurate head sculpt, regardless of the HT's attempt to put in more skin tone and texture, the Takara is still the most accurate of all the sixth scale Batmans out there. Which is why I will be waiting for the Takara Dark Knight to come. If they're not coming out with it, right now the most accurate Dark Knight, although almost no articulation, is the Mattel 12". My only complain about it is that the neck is too thin, but I can 'sculpey' that easily...
Just my two cents, folks...
