Hi guys

I recently had a chance to talk with Sean "Cheeks" Galloway, the character designer for The Spectacular Spider-Man animated series. Sean revealed a lot of cool secrets -- not the least of which is the story behind animated Peter's facial mole.

I just published an article based on our talk on Suite 101 which you can find here:

Hope you like the article!

thats cool, and spidercat if you didnt know cheeks posted here himself a few weeks back for a couple of posts. Though i havent seen him around since then.

Really? That's so awesome -- I didn't even know about Cheeks until the convention. Sure was a fun guy to talk to though :)

Yea he does seem like a pretty cool guy and i have enjoyed most of his designs for the show.

Yeah, I especially like his Gwen Stacy design. You should have seen how she looked originally though in one of his sketches -- really weird-looking kid, nothing like the cute nerd she's portrayed as now.

Are you talking about the more detailed design sheet that also had MJ and a Peter who had anime spikey hair?

Yeah, that's the one -- did you buy Sean's sketchbook too? Poor Gwen looks like she had the worst dye job...

I got the same mark on my face, in the same spot, when I saw the show I was so excited.

Great article, I must say.

Thanks so much! Feel free to check out my article list for more articles on animation and comics. If anyone's ever thought about being a voice actor, I've got two cool interviews up with voice actor Yuri Lowenthal (Ben 10 from Ben 10: Alien Force) and will be publishing an article on animation script writer Adam Beechen soon.

Thanks! If I ever get the opportunity, I definitely will!

By the way, here are some shortcut links to those voice acting articles about Yuri Lowenthal (the voice of Superman, Sasuke (from Naruto), and Ben Tennyson (from Ben 10: Alien Force) that I mentioned:
