Well folks, a key moment happened in the life of Spider-Man in the New Avengers comic:

Spider-Man, in order to earn their trust, revealed that he was Peter Parker (again) to his teammates. What's more is that Jessica Jones recognizes him and reveals to Peter that she had a crush on him in high school (as those who have read Bendis' Alias series already knew), which makes both Peter and Luke Cage go "You did?" Peter, apparently, never remembered her name except as "Coma Girl" because Jessica was in a car accident and went into a coma sometime between her and Peter's freshman and sophomore year in high school. Anyways, as it stands now, the New Avengers are the only ones in the Marvel Universe who know his true identity.

Now this part is odd for two reasons: One is that, apparently, none of the New Avengers remembered Peter's public unmasking from Civil War--which, thanks to whatever caused them to forget (and, even though it contradicts One More Day, Marvel claims Mephisto had nothing to do with it). But the other is that, according to interviews given by the braintrust, mainly Dan Slott, whatever it was that made everyone forget Peter Parker is Spider-Man also prevented them from putting two and two together that Peter and Spidey were one and the same. And yet, in this issue, Bendis shows that Jessica has no trouble recognizing him when he unmasks. So, how can this be?

It's honestly not that big a deal IMO. I think Kraven's daughter "knowing" who Spider-man really is in AMS extra 3 is more of a big deal. but that isn't going to be touched upon for 2 years. to be continued in Sinister 666. but that was the first issue of New Avengers I liked in a while.

Oh yeah, that did happen didn't it? Although that still begs the question how Kraven's daughter didn't know it was him after he saved the comic book shop owner during her sniper attack when he leapt out of the window with the guy. Even the comic book shop owner thought something was up there.

Well she is 13 even if she's not drawn like any 13 year old I've ever seen. lets just say she overlooked that for no reason at all.

Pete shouldn't be a member of the New Avengers.

Aloha,
I would say he should be a reserve member and not an active member. That would allow him to reamain the loner but at least have access to backup when the chips were really down. Don't forget, he was invited to become an Avenger, way back in Annual #3.He always had the goods to be an Avenger.

Hmm, interesting, well, atleast Peter's identity is not known to everyone in the world. This really isn't bad, IMO.

I'm not suprised that his identity is being revealed to guys like the avengers. I always thought it was just a matter of time before that happened.

I guess the "arrangement" would be null & void if Peter plainly tells somebody who he is... Jessica Jones remembers who he is AFTER he announces his name to them... and at the end of the day, it's Bendis... I'm surprised he got his own continuity correct... though I'm a tad shocked that JQ allowed this move...

Or

Whatever it is that's "up and running" that caused everyone to forget that Peter Parker revealed himself as Spider-Man in Civil War and prevents everyone else from putting two and two together gets destroyed somehow in Dan Slott's upcoming Spidey/Fanatastic Four team up in issue #590 and #591 next month.

And yeah, having people now being able to figure out Peter Parker is Spider-Man again does seem to defeat the purpose of the whole "No one remembers Peter Parker is Spider-Man, but some remember he unmasked but not who was under the mask" set-up they had at the start of Brand New Day.

I for one welcome this with open arms, it makes sense and is a natural progression for the characters closest superhero allies at the moment to know who he is.

Ironically enough when I saw that seen with everyone sitting at the table talking the first thing I thought is Spidey is the only one wearing a mask in this scene. When is he gonna just tell them already and then a few pages later DONE. Pretty cool and I think it makes sense

This was definitely an awesome move on Bendis' part, i think its ok to have a small handful of people know peter's identity and just keep it between them. Also, IS PETER A MACK OR WHAT! Peter had Jessica Jones in love with him in high school, how does this nerd get so many fine ladies?? LOL

Aloha,
Peter Parker was never an ugly guy. He dressed in jacket, sweater and tie throughout HS.He had some of the the highest grades at Midtown HS, which is what made him so threatening to Flash and other Jocks, but he was not stuck up. What's not to like?:word:Not ALL good girls like Bad Boys:word:

Was never a fan of OMD. Mainly the fact that Pete made a deal with Marvel's version of Satan, and how everything is left unexplained. But I always thought only a select few people should know that Peter Parker is Spider-man, and none of these New Avengers were one of those people.
I'm honestly surprised Bendis was allowed to pull this move, then again, maybe not. Though it pretty much confirms the editors pretty much allow him to do whatever he wants.

simple his luck isn't as bad as he thinks it is

It's the Parker Luck.
I don't get giving Bendis credit for this at all it's likely been planned out since the events of OMD to eventually reintroduce him.

I was honestly surprised to see him do this. I was thinking to myself while reading that scene "He's gonna walk."...but he didn't. Very very surprised, and I loved it.

I was hoping he would walk.
What has Spidey brought to the Avengers table besides some funny one-liners?

I was hoping he would walk as well... inasmuch as I love him in the Avengers, it just seems too soon for everybody knowing his identity again...

Hmm...i just realized something, how come Jessica never reacted that way towards Peter pre-OMD when she knew he was spiderman? They pretty much acted like strangers to each other.

Bendis forgetting his own continuity....

:whatever: :whatever: :whatever:

I think people need to get over Peter being on the Avengers.

Aloha,
Stop dumping on the writers. Every comic book has EDITORS who are supposed to catch these types of mistakes.Wack Wacker for this one:cwink:
