That was the impression I got from Nolan's film. It seemed to me as if anyone with a deep enough pocket to own their own military R&D department could become Batman. He needs to be more than just a rich kid with inexorbitantly expensive cool hi-tech gadgets.

How did Batman escape the gotham police in TDKR? He only did so by owning a Batwing, er helicopter.

It was 3D visualization technology that defeated the Joker and his army of thugs in TDK, not Bruce Wayne.

In BB, Bruce Wayne only escaped death fighting Raz Al Ghul on the train b/c his cape can stiffen to form gliders, while Raz didn't have anything remotely resembling a parachute on him.

Isn't that kinda the point of Batmans character? "a rich kid with cool gadgets". Sorry, im not sure if i understand this thread.

New Batman should be like... What if the Fellowship of the Ring lost their strongest asset (Gandalf) to a Balrog?

This is why Burton's Batman will always outshine Nolan's. In the original Batman, the Joker completely destroyed the Batwing with one shot of his anti-aircraft rifle. In TDK, the Joker didn't even know about Bruce Wayne's sonic 3D environment visualization tech...

It's good that my post doesn't make any sense. Here's to nonsenseness: What if in the next Jame Bond, bond is equiped with an automatic gun attached to his shoulder, that locks onto to the bad guy and shoots them down in 0.1 of a second way before they even have the chance to react? The old James Bond was all about using his lucky number to escape impossible traps. The new one just needs an automatic with AI targetting system to get the job done...

What would have been less interesting: in TKDR, getting rid of Bane. Have some street beggar steal the Batsuit, Batwing, Batmobile along with a few millions from Wayne's bank account. Being a street beggar, he know the best places in the city to hide these things. With the money, guy joins a gym to bulk up along with taking karate classes for a few years. Beggar now has same build and martial arts ability as Bruce Wayne, while Wayne's still unsuccessfully searching for the lost items. But, now Wayne has upgraded armor and new toys. Beggars suits up to break into Wayne manor to steal new toys. He succeeds because Wayne lets him. Just as beggar about to head for exit, Batman appears. Wayne didn't count on beggar to suit up in new batsuit, though. He always thought he'd take it home first to his hideout. It's now one on one fight Batman vs. "Batman"... Which will win? Nah, that would have been less interesting than what they did in TDKR!

I assume you hate Batman: Year One. Where he escapes the police by using a filthy sonar to call upon bats to distract them. Then he does something even worse. He boards a filthy motorcycle to escape. The real Batman would've ran with his wounded legs, damn it.
