The Dark Knight Rises New Batmobile

Thanks for the backup Llama. I'm trying to find/remember where I read/saw that those were stunts.

I know for sure the wall flip was CG. And IIRC, so was the sideways roll. I believe that exact shot was even in the earlier trailers, without the Batpod (just the explosion).

Nathan Crowley said it. It's probably expanded in more interviews, but he does refrence it here:

"In order to give Batman the ability to maneuver under low clearances, the Bat-Pod can physically lower and elongate itself. On set, the front forks extended and the chassis hugged the ground, positioning Goy parallel to the ground--and that's before pulling a 360. "The saddle is free to rotate," Crowley says. "It allows you to do all kinds of odd movement within the frame of the bike."

Poo. Double post. But if Nathan Crowley said it, y'know, the designer of the bike, you can bank on it being true.

Hell yes.

I nearly stood up and screamed **** YES after he flipped the semi and did that badass spinning turn thing on the wall.

I remember rolling my eyes and the theater laughing at the batpod wall spin...

Yeah, I think it's really awesome. Here's a bigger, side view of the car. Although I think it's a concept for 2016!

Now there's a batmobile!

While I do love The Tumbler, I still think the Burton-mobile is the best we've seen.

For all of you guys who think the Burton-mobile can't make sharp turns, just watch Returns. The Batmobile did it a lot of times. Just skip to about 1:15 and see one example from that video.

And out of all the Bat-movies that have been made, none of them can top this scene. This just screams "Batman" in so many ways.:word:

Love the way it ploughs through a street full of cars, making mince meat of everything in its path. God bless movie magic and the power of imagination.

The second scene is practically Batmobile porn. I get all tingly just watching it.

Have to admit that as cool as that Lambo is [as is], I'd still like to see a little signature motif to give it the old 'Batmobile' touch.

Now, I'm not talking anything outrageous like we've seen in extremes in the past, just a couple of understated (well, understated compared to some versions) fins. Apolgoies for the crudeness - had to use MS Paint :csad::-

It's not about driving it ourselves - while that would obviously rock. It's that density of reality when you realize that this is a real thing, it exists, and can do incredible stuff. Batman feels that much more believable and engaging.

Mazzucchelli says it better and more succinctly than I can, "The more ‘realistic’ superheroes become, the less believable they are." Regardless of whether or not the Burtonmobile can make sharp turns or not, it will always feel more genuine and awesome to me than the Tumbler.

Haha! Good job on paint!

Maybe he'll put a few sponsors on it :p

Looks good.

I don't know why, but I've never been a fan of that Lamborghini. Something about it looks off to me, and I can't figure out what it is.

that would be cool to see on the screen

For thos that love the tumbler, I have to say, IMO, it's the dumbest batmobile ever. here are the reasons why:
1. The most obvious is that it's supposed to be a Wane Tech prototype, so by using it he's creating a link to his true identity.
2. The batmobile should be good for high speed chases, to catch criminals or get away from police. Tanks don't go that fast. Maybe 60 mph on a good day. A cop can easily follow that to the bat cave.
3. Batmobile should be stealthy.
4. It was way over the top and very unrealistic. If he had been going against other bad guys in tanks, or against an army of villians I could see it, but there was nothing like that in the movie.

I want something sleek and fast for the next Batmobile.

1.It was addressed, so it's not a "dumb" batmobile. Cars aren't dumb, people are. Maybe Bruce was dumb to use it? But it made for an interesting plot point, so...
2.What makes you think the Tumbler doesn't go fast? It was pretty fast in BB.
3.The Tumbler is a stealth car.
4.Over the top is a matter of opinion. I thought the BF and B&R cars were over the top, whereas there was nothing "over the top" about the Tumbler. It was a black tank of sorts. And unrealistic? How? Again, it's a tank. Just like Batman has converted sports cars into Batmobiles, he converted a tank into a Batmobile.

Mazzucchelli, the guy who worked on BY1? Ok.

2. That Tumbler in real life could go over a 100mph. Hell the chases were filmed at like 40-60mph.

The Dark Knight took place during the fall. If it's true that Nolan is getting shots right now of scenery with snow in it, then that could mean that The Dark Knight Rises takes place within months, weeks, or even days of when The Dark Knight ended. If that's the case, then I think there's a good chance that we won't get a new batmobile at all. Bats will just stick with the Batpod throughout the film.

That being said, the Lamborghini Ankonian looks exactly how a batmobile should look. That thing is gorgeous.

Eh, that doesn't actually confirm that the 360 wall turn is actually a practical effect shot. It doesn't even look like it. It has that odd CG quality to it.

Unless there is a 'spare' Tumbler as Fox alluded to...

Yeah, it had a weird "stop motion" look to the shot. I don't know exactly what it was, but it looked fake as hell to me.

I'm not a fan of the Bat-pod, and I hope we get a new Batmobile, or we get The Tumbler back, cause the Bat-pod just seems so weak to me. I hate how quiet it is. Sounds exactly like a golf cart to me. I like Batman's vehicles to sound ferocious.
