Bay Briefly Talks Transformers 2
Source: E! Online October 24, 2007

E! Online caught up with Transformers director Michael Bay at Hollywood Film Festival's Hollywood Awards and asked about the sequel:

So, where do you go with it? How do you up the stakes?
It's not about upping it. It's about still keeping the heart.

Any new characters coming in?
Oh, yeah…a lot of fun stuff. I keep telling the writers, remember the heart and the magic, remember the heart and the magic. It's not about being bigger.

DreamWorks is targeting a June 26, 2009 release date for the follow-up

You know i gotta say, for once, this is EXACTLY what i want to hear in regards to a sequel. It seems they are not forgetting what made the first so memorable, which was the heart, the magic and the characters, NOT the action.

I really cant wait to see this.

Not to start up a Bay-fight, but that doesn't sound like something Bay would say. His whole career has been; "BOOM! POW!", and now he's like: "Don't go bigger, remember the heart and the magic!" Riigghhttt.

SS told him to say that. :o

Sounds to me like it's gonna be human dominated like the first film. They're gonna focus on the "magic" and give us just enough TF action to appease.

No matter who told him to say it, i'm still glad to hear it.

I think he's made it quite clear he wanted to do more with the 'bots, but just didn't have the cash to do so.

Quite honestly, I'd like to see the next film be more about the political liabilities of the remaining TFs and what they will do from here.

i really think micheal bay was the best person to do this and speilburg as a producer was a plus. and from the money the first movie made im sure this next movie will have a huge budget and will probobly have atleast for more bot hopefully alout more

Well he did say the same thing on the dvd commntary, so he probably did say it in the interview.

If he is being genuine then that is great. Still, Bay needs to realize that the lack TF screentime was a wide complaint for the first film. At the very least, I hope we get a 50/50 human-robot screentime ratio.

There was a lack of TF screentime because they didn't have enough money to do more, as is my understanding. I'm sure they'll get a lot more for the sequel.

Maybe he is maturing and growing up at last. Or maybe... Michael Bay is dead and Steven Spielburg is using a life-like Michael Bay mannikin! Has anyone seen a pic of transformers production where Michael Bay and spielburg were both in the frame but with spielbirg standing a long way off? I sure haven`t. That would explain those interview sessions with Bay on spielburg`s knee. lol.

Spielburg is his sensei, essentially. I'm sure Bay tries to smell him to soak in his legendary energies, or something to that effect.

Here's hoping we get some cool robot interaction.

welli heard that the producer has alout to do with what happens in the movie and is very involved so im sure spielburg helped with the movie

Well, when Bay says "heart", it can be translated for "more horny teenager chasing down hot piece of ass", cuz that was as close to heart as that movie ever had.

50/50 wold be just about perfect for me, i would be VERY happy with that.

Michael Bay saying this is one of the most hilarious things ever.

You know what they say, optimism is good for the heart.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! Someone who agrees with me...*bows*

Way too much pessimism and sarcasm in here for me!

Blonde moment....(yes, I'm trying to hide it :o) but when you said SS....Steven Spielberg didn't come to mind.

I honestly thought "Starscream told him to say that?" :wow:

But then common sense came knocking back. :ninja:
