Okay...

Austria is a location. Great. That opera theatre is going to be awesome if it's featured.

A ski chase? Okay... let's hope it's done better than the one in TWINE.

Dennis Gassner is the new production designer? Sad to see Lamont go (Lamont told those at the event that he isn't returning purely because Marc Forster wanted a new visual style for Bond).

The ski chace, I am not a fan of the idea, since it has been done so often. I think, however, that Switzerland is a perfect location: it means something to Bond personnally (since his mother is French Swiss), on a "fan" level (since we know he fought/will fight Blofeld there and ultimately these events made him a widower), and on a geopolitical level, since Switzerland has always been an important place for international espionnage.

I am a bit skeptical about the new visual style. Is it really necessary?

Yeah, I'm cautious. But if they really do deliver an intense and gritty ski chase, I think it could work. They just have to make sure they're bringing the quality (yeah, the ski chase has been done a lot, but it hasn't always been done well... OHMSS features the only really good ski chase in the franchise).

I'm all for shaking things up in this franchise. It's not like the new visual style is going to be something really off the wall, after all. We've had many different production designers with many different styles. Peter Lamont was good, but his style was also pretty different from Ken Adam, or Syd Cain, or Alan Cameron, and their work was all distinctly different but still Bondian.

I think Forster just wants some new blood on the team, and I couldn't agree more. CASINO ROYALE started injecting some fresh blood into the Bond team, and I want to see BOND 22 continue with that. I find it fascinating, though, that EON has given him a lot of power over the Bond team... he's picking his own 2nd unit director (a previously "standard" position), now he's picking his own production designer. Makes me wonder if David Arnold's not going to come back.

I hope Arnold comes back, he did such a good job with CR (of which I was happily surprised).

I think the chocie of Switzerland is great: it has beautifuls ettings, it means a lot in Bond's history and in normal history it has always been an important center of internaitonal espionnage and political intrigues. I wonder if the script will have elements of the OHMSS novel.

He did do a good job with CR, and so I wouldn't complain if he came back. I wouldn't complain if he didn't come back, either. While I liked the score for CR, I do wonder whether he could continue the quality with BOND 22, and there are certainly much better film composers out there.

If the visual style is similiar to the Bourne films but a bit grittier then I will be a happy camper.

The ski chase sounds like an interesting idea. I look forward to how it will be.

Love the Ski chase idea,it's a Bond classic and with the advanced camera rigs they have these days some epic and spectacular stuff could be captured on the alps.

The Opera house sounds like a superb backdrop for Bond as well.

Yeah, I like the opera house idea alot.

Grittier than the already quite gritty Bourne films? That's entirely inappropriate for Bond.

Bond needs some level of glamour.

let's not 4get more humor

the evolution begins.......

I am wondering if the choice of the opera Tosca echoes somewhat the plot of the movie. Maybe I am looking too far into it, but the plot of the opera is about lost love because of an evil man trying to possess Tosca for himself.

If Craig was being even serious, that is.

Interesting thought.

Well, maybe they just picked up an opera decor that was visually impressive, without thinking about its plot. But I think it might be thematically related to the movie.

Some of my favorite Bond moments have been the ski chases! Bring it on!

If its anything like the OHMSS then this will be great, I love the intense look on Lazenbys face as he straggles that henchman with his ski,

simon lamont is apart of the James bond legacy he is bigger than any Director and they should fight to keep him there.

:(

As I'd posted previously on another thread - I'd hoped for a colder setting as a nice contrast to CR's Madagascar and Bahamas, so I'm a happy fellow - Austria's a beautiful place.

I'd also posted that I hoped we didnt get a ski chase as I thought it would be a bit passe and a bit of a cliche but seeing as it's looks like we're getting one - I can only show my support and hope that it's good (which, after the amazing stunt work in CR, I have faith it will be)

Why are people getting upset about skiing scenes?

Ski chases are part of Bond. They happen every few movies. OHMSS, TSWLM, FYEO, AVTAK, TLD, TWINE and DAD all feature snow-based action.

I think ppl still have a sour taste in their mouth after the ski change in 'The World is Not Enough'. The chase itself was not bad, but the movie around it gives it a bad vibe.

I dont know about a ski chase. I mean it sounds like an older bond movie thing. It dosent seem like somthing craig's bond would do. But i could be completely wrong. I guess it could be real good if its done right.
