well this will be titled "Make 'em Laugh"...you've probably guess it but it is a hour and half story following a young man named Joe Knight. As a kid all Joey wanted to do was be a comedian. He watched stand-up on tv as a kid and was the class clown of his high-school and grade school carreer. When Joe graduates from college with a major in thearter and arts, he meets a girl and move to gotham city to pursue a career in stand-up. Night after night, he just isn't getting the laughs. he starts losing gigs and eventually can't get a job in the big city. One night he's arguing with a club owner for just 5 minutes on stage and he refuses. walking out of the club he is confronted by a man named who goes only by "Black Mask". He and his thugs offer Joe a job in this gang. He immeditly refuses, but when Joe gets home his wife has a suprise for him. She is pregnant. Joe knows if he works for "mask" then he'll have money that he really needs to support his family. he goes back and takes the job. After many months as a hitman and thief for this gang. He realizes he can't keep lying to his wife. He asks to leave but is told he must go on one last mission as "The Red Hood". He agrees but is actually set-up by his own gang whem they call the cops on him. The police show up and so does a masked vigilantee known as "Batman". When Joe tries to flee, he falls into a vat of acid. Belived to be dead, the police leave.
Hours later, he climbs out of the body bag he was in and escapes the morge. He sneaks to his home, to find his wife and newborn dead. Distraght by this, he exits and wonders around aimlessly. He passes out in the middle of a long dirt road exiting Gotham where he is picked up by the local circus passing by. He wakes up with the freaks show, they say they will take care of him, because hes one of them. He doesnt know what they mean, when they give him a mirror hes is in horror of what he sees. He has white skin, green hair, and bright red lips. he starts to cry, but the tears turn into laughter. Joe has no memory of who he is or what has happened. They name him "The Joker". Months follow as Joe "The Joker" starts working at the circus as a behind the scenes crew man. One night when the owner of the circus is caught abusing a women who works in the freakshow, Joker comes to the rescue of her. The man tells Joker that hes just a freak too and has no buisness with him, when the owner lunges at Joker, he ducks and pulls out a shaving blade and kills the owner. Joker is suprised by himself and how he learned to kill like that. The circus comes out of there tents tell Joker they owe him they're lives. Apparently, the owner had been keeping them all against there will. He had promised to pay them when he had made more money. But a flashback shows that they snuck in saw the owner counting money and he had been spending theres all this time, and pay the local mobs money he owed them for whatever favor. He would use threats and beat them down with his words telling them they cant work anywhere else so they have no choice but to stay. Joker decieds to take it upon himself and take the money, and take over as owner/ringmaster. Even going as far to put on the ringmaster purple suit.
He tells them they shouldnt be living like this anymore, and that with man power like this we can run gotham. He gets a backing from them all, and they decied to rent out a run down toy factory and run operations there. Joker decieds to start killing off head Dons of diffrent mobs and gangs in the city. By doing so, they thugs and soldiers who worked for those gangs, then turn to joker for a job. The rise of The Joker as the clown prince of crime starts as he is collecting more power...he starts having nightmares and wierd flashbacks of a women and child and a giant Bat pushing him. (He starts remembering little things of his past). he decides to kidnap a local, unknown, therapist named Jonathon Crane for answers. Crane tires to intrepret Jokers memories and tries and help his "patient". Crane prys too far one session and Joker turns the tables and becomes defensive calling names, which brings Crane memories of his own childhood. Crane leaves and tells him he doesnt care if he kills or threatens him, becuase he has no fears anymore, and one day, Joker will fear him. Batman starts to notice the theatrical crimes and murders 'The Joker' is comiting. Eventually there is a grand finale against the man who laughs and the man who 'created' him.
