I'll tell you what The Spirit is about; a masked, middle-class crime-fighter who had seemingly died and returned to fight crime with the blessing of Commissioner Dolan in Central City, where he attracts the most dangrous and sexy femmes fatale and fights eccentric psychopathic criminals and also develops a love relationship with Ellen Dolan.
Pretty much what Miller is doing, I'd say.![]()
Yeah, all except the part where you choose to ignore the fact that the relationship with Ellen developed BEFORE the supposed death.
Oh, and the main character trait... the one where he takes a beating, because he chooses to overcome his limitations... not because he is a cartoon character with invincibility.
Yeah, other than those two glaring alterations to the core values of Eisner's ideas, Miller has pretty much maintained um... uh... 55-60% of what the characters are about.
