I got sucker-punched in the face once. It was an attempted mugging, but I managed to get away. This happened when I was about 17. But at first I didn't see anyone and it just felt like I had collided with some wall I hadn't noticed. Anyone who assaults strangers for kicks is barely worthy of being called "human" in my mind. They are damaged sociopaths who don't know how to relate to others or just don't care, so they spread their misery to others to make themselves feel better about what failures they are. Ugh.... throw the book at all of them.

Kids were doing this 20 years ago when I was HS. It's not really new. Maybe the trend traveled from the west to the east because this was like a right of passage at my HS.

I think the randomness is what bugs people. As strange as it sounds there's something more comforting if you know the reason you were attacked, like a mugging. If there's no reason and you're just randomly beat up, that would mess with your head I think. Now with smart-phones these idiots love beating strangers and showing the videos to their friends. That didn't happen 20 years ago.
