I’m really nervous about this project. I hope they get a great actress for Big Barda.
So if filming starts next year are we looking at a 2021 release? I hope so because this would easily be my most anticipated DC movie of that year.
I like issue one of Heroes in Crisis so far. Anyway, they should abandon the multiverse stuff, ease things up and have only one "earth" again. Would make for a smoother and more focused storytelling. I'm sick of the timiline and alternate reality hopping in (DC) comics.
Yeah... this doesn’t really excite me at all. King has not had a great run.... recently, anyway.
Call me when they get Scott Snyder to write something for the movies.
I imagine 2022 is more likely since 2021 already has The Batman and The Suicide Squad.
Looks like Ava is focusing on this now after finishing work on "When They See Us" (about the Central Park Five). Hopefully this collaboration with Tom King works out, although still sounds like it has a way to go. The focus on Mister Miracle and Barda sounds good, so King would be the right guy to help with that.
If she brings the same style from When They See Us to this project then....HOLY ****. Ava is a great director.
Tom King's involvement is fan service at best. Still wary about this. Decades later and most comic creators have failed Kirby's vision. I doubt Hollywood could do any better.
When They See Us, is soul crushing though. It's a masterpiece, but I didn't enjoy watching it. I wanted to jump through the TV and save those kids
Also this is the first time a show or film had me crying over a chia pet. A got damn chia pet!!! They better let Ava make this film how she want it.
After the accolades this series gets, they will.
I'm completely ignorant to Tom King's Mister Miracle run.
Is it set on Apokolips/New Genesis or is it mostly set on Earth? What are we looking at in terms of scale?
It goes to earth and New Eden and Apokolips but it’s really a character study of Scott Free’s. In any case, don’t expect the movie to have much resemblance in story or even tone. King has a firm grasp on Miracle and Barda’s characters and their relationship to one another and their epic setting, that’s the good news.
Any chance Mister Miracle will be in this movie?
He's probably going to be a main.
Why go with a crappy grimdark writer in Tom King if they said they're moving away from Zack Snyder style DC movies?
Tom King has definitely done some things I'm not fond of (e.g. Heroes in Crisis), but as far as I can tell he isn't exclusively one type of writer: he adapts based on the story, characters, and canon he has to work with. It's obvious he got this gig because of his work on Mister Miracle which, as I understand it, was well-received and not grim. Perhaps those who are concerned about King should seek out his MM run for insight and reassurance.
Heroes in Crisis is so terrible I have no interest in reading anything else he's done. Rebirth brought me back but I stopped completely after reading this turd. It's so unbelievably bad. I have stacks of awful 90s Marvel comics that are more palatable than this ****. Capwolf and Maximum Carnage suddenly don't look so bad anymore.
Everything we’ve heard is pointing towards Miracle and Barda being the lead characters.
Yeah Hereos in Crisis is bad, but I think it’s silly to quit reading DC altogether because of one bad book.
As long as Didio and Lee are in charge, I'm not interested. They fooled me with the Rebirth gimmick but Heroes in Crisis reads like something DIdio and King cooked up to troll the old school fans. I have no time for cynicism in my comics.
Then find a book that you like. DC isn’t a homogenous group of cynical books.
Yeah, I didn't see anything "grimdark" about his Mr. Miracle run.
Or anything he's written, though I haven't read Heroes in Crisis yet.
