they better do hands behind his back darkseid like injustice its mad disrespectful
I don't care if people think it comes across as Thanos clone, but I would hate Darkseid to have same level of depth as Steppenwolf, two dimensional villains like Apocalypse (X-Men), Steppenwolf will always find hard to gain audience approval and they will have to face under-developed character complaint from critics.
That family tree is pretty big. Guessing New Gods are just the corrupt vers of the Greco-Roman pantheon.
Yeah, with Darkseid come the story of whole family and the worlds of New Genesis and Apocolips, which needs it's own movie to fully establish them.
I would definitely recommend it.
Kirbys style isn't for everyone, it's bold and brash, and there's a lot of exposition. But his stories are very powerful, his metaphors are obvious, but they work. There are so many great ideas, so many sci-fi concepts. The artwork has an almost primal feeling to it, everything is larger than life, everything is turned up to eleven. Some writers are like snipers, whereas Kirby is an artillery barrage. He doesn't trade in subtlety or finesse, but he makes up for it worth an astounding amount of imagination, a creative juggernaut.
If you haven't read any Kirby before I'd advise maybe picking up one of his shorter works like OMAC or The Demon first, to see if you like his style.
For me, Jack Kirbys Fourth World is one of the greatest works of fiction in all human history, it has pride of place on my bookcase.
I’ve said a while ago in one of these threads, but with Darkseid comes the supporting characters to help differentiate from Thanos and co.
Thanos’ crew was essentially nameless muscle.
Granny Goodness, the Furies, etc. can leave a more lasting impression on audiences easily if done right.
I was actually disappointed that we didn't get more time with the Black Order, and that they could get scared off by the likes of Captain America, Black Widow and The Falcon.
Agreed, they were much more formidable in the comics.
I had such high expectations when I saw these pics from Comic Con, but the fighting scenes and CGI renders failed to impress me that much.
Darkseid seeks the complete oppression of all life, to end free will, to turn everyone and everything into his mindless slaves.
I am not very familiar with the Black Order but I liked them in Infinity War and wanted to see more of them. I especially liked Ebony Maw.
I appreciate the care taken to draw the asses in that image.
Maybe Darkseid should be created with the use of makeup and practical effects, with CGI enhancements to smooth blemishes and to make him appear taller.
A reliance on makeup over CGI would immediately distinguish Thanos and Darkseid, but may draw comparisons to Apocalypse...
It's a very fine line. I'd do the makeup and prosthetics but use CG to make him larger and make his eyes full CG red, no pupils. We don't need to relate to him.
For me CGI is the only way to go with a character like Darkseid.
Lol ya with makeup, it’d probably end up looking like this guy from Return to Oz
^Pretty sure make up effects have come quite a way since the 80s. I've seen cosplay that looks better.
If you wanted to go practical, you don't need to worry about making him taller.
In the original Kirby work he was normal sized, like the vast majority of the New Gods.
People are intimidated by height, that's just how our brains work.
Dracula doesn't need to be 10ft tall for people to be afraid of him, neither do the Joker or Hannibal Lecter.
He's a mastermind not a brawler, if he wanted to kill you, he could use his omega beams to zap you without even glancing in your direction.
He's just always been one of those characters artists make as tall as or taller than Superman.
I want him to be sitting in chairs all the time. Just. Constantly.
I really don’t want darkseid to be entirely cgi.
Practical with cgi enhancements please.
Imagine this with a Hollywood movie budget.
It would be perfect.
I’m tired of cgi villains.
