Sucks. Well we still don't pay tax on clothes but this still pisses me off.

I know it's an extra $0.01 on every $1.00, $0.10 for every $10.00, or $1.00 for every $100.00 but still.

I live in New Jersey, and I'm all for it.

All the budget plans until Corzine's have been "quick fixes" that's long-term effects have been worse rather than better. This is a long term plan that will make things better for the long haul.

In Canada, the national sales tax, called the "Goods and Service tax" or GST dropped 1% from 7% to 6% over last weekend.

our previous government put ours up to 17.5% a few years back. we even get it on winter fuel. damn tories.all so they could win a few extra votes from the middle classes by putting down income tax.

I can't believe they shut down so many state sanctioned business, including the casinos, over a mere 1% difference on sales tax. The millions of dollars lost in revenue and the impact to the overall state economy will far outweigh the proceeds from the sales tax hike for quite a long time. That's just a terrible way of conducting business an I hope all of 'em get thrown out on their ears come election time for this stunt.

I like the fact that the Governor was blaming the legislature and vice versa. It'd be interesting to see how well people's memories are in a few years when they are for reelection.
