The Dark Knight New Joker Picture In The LA Times

This pic really screams epic. I love the simplicity to it.

That pic is very ominious.

I don't want to sound to poetic here... but he look's like some bird of prey ready to pounce on it's victim. And that would be Gotham.

I was at the LA showing as well and was seriously hoping they would be nice and show it again...it was amazing.

"what doesn't kill you...only makes you...stranger..."

ya thats why I kept saying UNO MAS and COME ON I NEED MY FIX!

but ya I didn't quite get everything on the first run like if Joker changed his make up or what ya know? those subtle things, also I was really close up to be able to tell

thats such a great way to describe it...i really like the way nolan and ledger have both been describing him recently, as a shark. you can really see it.

To be honest Joker I have no idea. I thought it was brown until the big reveal where it was green. I have to see it again.

I think the deal with the hair as some other people on the boards have said is that he prolly put shoe polish on his hair before the heist so no one would recognize him and throughout the heist because of the sweat from everything that was going on it just kind of washed off to show the bits of green in his hair because when he pulled the mask off I remember his hair wasn't completely green yet, it was still kind of dark in places.

haha, i just did that actually...

Imagine that as a serious of posters, as to create this juxtaposition about all these characters trying to take over Gotham. A shot of Harvey looking outside his window to see Gotham, batman on top of that ledge from the prologue, and joker on the streets... Id love it

Exactly that, and the music toned down a lot when that shot came on (its after the thugs zipline from the building) so imagine... ****ing intense. after that he puts on the mask as soon as the van gets to him, and seems like he holds it there until he can tie it on

Sounds awesome. :woot:

The scene I've got in my head right now is that one scene in the room, where the camera slowly zooms in on Tesla's machine for the first time, and the score swells up into a crescendo....

But, with what Heath Ledger has cited as his influences for The Joker, perhaps we should be thinking of it as this shot (also an "intro" shot) in reverse:

(sorry, couldn't find it with the right soundtrack)

Noob: Start your own fawking "Shoe Polish" thread, please. Seriously. Didn't I see you on the Watchmen boards preaching that crap!

Here's my first post for you:
If we see a single can of shoe polish in this movie, then I will eat my hat.

Wow, and the ****wad of the year award goes to....

Its my first post referencing this and it makes sense, at least more sense than his hair just magically turning green moments before he removes his mask.

Someone needs a hug.

In all seriousness, this is a great photo. I particularly like the way he has his back to the picture and his mask is staring straight at you.
Yea, the mask staring at you is pretty damn awesome. Gives you a great sense of foreboding.

Wow!!
That pic seems so interesting... Just one question, was that picture shown on the prologue or is part of the movie??

You're right: because either it can be explained by 1) Shoe polish, or 2) "Magic".

I can think of several other scenarios. Remember how the Joker is actually travelling incognito (i.e. -- without paint and haridye) with his goons in order to convince them that he's not actually taking part in the heist? Then he picks them off one by one. So in order to not tip them off, he isn't in full-on Joke regalia -- at first.

And that's just one option... I assure you neither show polish or magic will be involved. Because Chris Nolan isn't a fawk-tard.

Could Malcolm McDowell have made a good Joker?

Could someone put this picture in context? This shot was seen in the prologue, right? Is he just entering the bank or..? What happened right before/right after this shot?

I'm sorry, I know the prologue has been discussed already. But I've only been eye-balling the descriptions b/c I don't wanna get too spoiled. Yeah I know it's pretty ironic that I hang around here at the spoiler section...

But this picture is just so...beautiful. In a grim sort of way I guess. There's something surreal about it. Love the lighting. Love the mask. Love the busy city view.

Why is he staring at the ground or is he just brooding in this shot?

Well you just used magic because since hes traveling incognito, hes supposed to not be green'd out? And I remember the first time I saw it full green was when he took off the mask/got on the bus. I cant explain it but we gotta flame someone else for trying to?

the truck comes and picks him up to bring him to the bank

yeah the mask staring at us is really creepy, especially because of the slits in the eyes where the bright light comes through, really creepy

what's so powerful about this pic i think relates to what nolan wants to achieve with the anarchic nature of the joker. look at him, he's plopped down there on the corner of a street in gotham and in his mind his thoughts must be racing, his desire to kill thousands of people are running wild. that's really frightening, and that itself could make this the most terrifying joker any of us have ever seen. i know a lot of debate goes back and forth about 'realism' but my god, it looks like a real city street! a person could be this insane. that's the key, that's what scares me the most about the joker.

all my humble opinion of course, but that's the root of my over the top excitement at this moment

f*** yeah!!!!!!!!!
merry christmas

This is after the goons break the window and zipline to the banks roof. That scene cuts into this one, where you see him just waiting there. He is waiting for the van to come pick him up. He gets in and the goon says "thats it? three guys"... Hes not looking at the ground...hes just crazy like that

Awesome!

Do you get a sense of how the Joker's emotion and outlook is? Does he seem really down and depressed but still funny in that insane forlorn way? Is he confident or awkward? Does he emanate fear? How did you feel watching him? Disturbed? Fearful?

Quick Poster i came up with
