A new doll that mimics the act of breast-feeding has some parents up in arms and the manufacturer defending itself against accusations of perversion.

Called "Breast Milk Baby," the doll sold through Berjuan Toys for $89 allows children to imitate the act of breast-feeding by using a special halter top that comes with the toy.

The top is made from a colorful material with two flowers positioned where nipples would be. When the doll's mouth is brought close to a sensor embedded in the flower, the baby makes motions and sounds consistent with suckling.

Critics say the doll is over-sexualizing young girls or forcing them to grow up too quickly, but the company and supporters have said the toys are meant to teach young girls about the nurturing skills they'll need later in life.

Parents Divided on Issue
Dennis Lewis, U.S. spokesman for Berjuan Toys, said the toymaker has faced considerable criticism.

"There have been people who have called us pedophiles, they've called us perverts, they've said we're endangering little girls," he said.

"Breast-feeding was a normal part of life before a few greedy pharmaceutical companies tried to make it rich selling artificial milk," he said. "A girl who plays with a breast-feeding baby now will think this is the normal way to feed a baby."

As creepy as this doll sounds, I am in full support of it. Most of the young girls I see who have babies choose not to breastfeed for reasons such as not being comfortable with their own body and not understanding that breastfeeding is natural, only thinking their breasts are for sexual purposes, etc. It's so much healthier to breastfeed!

I hope that these dolls help/do well.

I want to agree with you, but...... This is kinda creepy.

But is it creepy because society on a whole isn't comfortable with breastfeeding? I'm inclined to say yes.
I'm not uncomfortable with it if it's a grown woman. But if these dolls are intended for pre-teens, that's probably not something they need to know about yet.

I would usually agree with you, but one of the programs I coordinate helps educate pregnant teenagers, and when some of these young moms are only 14 years old, the earlier they learn to be comfortable about such things, the better.

I would like to agree. But one could argue that this is another way of glamorizing pregnancy among young women.

Do you get payed for this, or do you just do it in your free time?

I don't think it's a question on whether breastfeeding is normal/natural/healthy, I mean, *********ions healthy for young men, very healthy in fact, but I don't want my son playing with his new GI Joe with his Kung-Fu Action Ejaculation Grip complete with fluids and sound effects.

When a female gets pregnant, that's the time to use the doll.Maybe if it's a teen pregnancy and she's scared.

I wasn't being one. Maybe you should learn when someone is using sarcasm and when they aren't.

Haha, I didn't read it as sarcasm and then when JD said that, I just assumed I was being naive about being picked on :O Whoops.

This was created by the same people trying to bring Shariah Law to the United States as a means of teaching women "their place" at an early age. The closemindedness of it is mindboggling, even to someone like me.

But little girls are the ones playing with dolls. They don't need to be breastfeeding their dolls.

My best friend's daughters are 6 and 3, they love dolls, and just...hell no.

It's the stupidest idea I've ever heard.

I think that it's an interesting idea, and I'd be curious to see if it actually worked. Kids absorb so much about life at a young age. I think that it's worth a try.

I am well aware that I say this coming from a biased place, but after having a teenager tell me she refused to try breastfeeding because "I don't want nobody suckin' on my chest" well, I'm much more open to crazy ideas :o
