Anyone looking forward to this movie? Think it will pull Passion of the Christ type numbers?

I've only scene one tv spot, but I'm looking forward to it.

It doesn't have a snowballs chance in hell of pulling TPOTC level numbers.

I haven't seen ANY tv spots for it at all. The only reason i knew this movie was coming out was when i saw a poster for it at a bus stop in my area, then came home and looked it up online. My point is, there's not alot of press for this film.....

This movie is like the prequel to Passion of the Christ.

I saw the trailer with Superman Returns and some lady was like "Yay jesus!!!" :yay:

I'm interested in checking it out, if only to see the story in live action with a decent budget and accurate actors.

I saw a little thing on this on HBO the other day. It looks like it might be a good film. It doesn't look low budget or anything.

Also, just a preemptive warning... if anyone starts up some religion or bible bashing trolling in here, I'll probate your face!! :cmad:

Hey, DOG....you don't even have to cut it off at "Bible Bashing"! :)

The last thread I saw about this movie got locked by C.Lee.

You know why?

'Cause people were talking about how it looked "dumb"
(judging from the previews...as a "MOO-VIE", not from the source material)...

...and then they started talking about their doubts in the motivations of the producers of the film.
(meaning, they suspected that it wasn't a "labor of love" like Mel's Passion movie, but rather, that the producers saw how much freaking money "The Passion" made and wanted to tap that sweet, sweet Christian demographic).

So there's a precedent there, and you can make a swift, pre-emptive strike if anyone happens to say that they don't think it looks like it'll be a good movie.

( although, if you don't like the look of the CGI in the leaked Spider-Man 3 trailler, well, you're free to speak your mind......since no one actually worships "Spider-Man" :) )

Yeah well, if someone runs up in a Spider-Man 3 thread and posts: "I have no desire to see this crap, I don't believe in it, and it's all a bunch of crap. Spider-Man isn't real, and all this is fake."

Sure, it's that guy's opinion, but it's just him being a jerk. He knows damn well it's going to lead to fighting and he will be slapped in the eye lids. :down:cmad:

They claim the three wise men are comedy relief. If one of them utters the phrase, "Moe, Larry, cheese!" we'll know for definite.

I'm loking foward to this movie, although once again, the cast speaking in English is a slight turn off.

I wasn't all that interested in this movie up until I saw the Prestige and it had the newest trailer for this attached to it. I gotta say it looks like it might be an impressive movie, but you can't judge a movie by it's trailer, so we'll see.

Looks pretty good to me, so I'll be checking it out.

I work for a book company that has connections with the company distributing this film. Several of my co-workers saw a pre-screening and they said it was incredible. The stories of people's reactions are amazing.

This was not made to "latch" on to the passion movie, but rather the man behind it wanted to really show what those few verses that we see would reveal. He did huges amounts of research, with Jewish and Christian scholars to get the feel of the times, the wardrobe and all the pieces right.

I am looking forward to this and am going to see it first to see if my kids can go to it. I think that would be very cool to do right before Christmas to remind them what the holiday is really about.

Fox has seen that there is a demand for movies for "Christian" audiences and is trying to meet it. Next up is Amazing Grace, the story behind the song and it stars "Dr. Reed Richards" himself. Very cool.:yay:

I've only seen the original trailer not the latest one.

And in the first trailer, it came across as cheesy and over the top, and I was expecting one of the movie-voice over guys to do it.

But if people are keen on seeing this movie, fine.

I highly doubt this movie will do even near POTC numbers. POTC was largely fueled by fundamentalist Christians in the U.S., who are less likely to see this movie because:

1. It depicts the main characters (correctly) as dark-skinned "ethnic" persons.

2. It focuses on Mary, who generally isn't recognized as a divine figure by non-Catholic Christians.

3. It's a generally positive movie, that seems to be more about love and enlightenment rather than inciting negative emotion.

I'm kind of iffy on the film. I haven't seen any actual SCENES from the movie...it COULD be good if done with the same kind of detail that Passion had.

lol! "Nativity and the Three Wise guys" starring Steve Martin.

Doesn't look like a lot of folks are into seeing this. I still haven't seen the latest trailer but it's a good story,I may check it out,it might get me in the christmas spirit. :yay:

The Spirit of Christmas

Deep thought - When athesists or agnostics say, "Oh my God!", do they realize what they're saying? Ponder that one for a while. But silently, we need no ongoing religious debates. :o

I'll check it out, or wait for a few reviews first....

I'm going on Monday night. My aunt got tickets through her church, apparently we're not allowed to bring cell phones with cameras and they will be checking bags. Makes me want to sneak one in all the more.
