I would put my life savings that an R Rated, TMNT movie would make money.

It doesn't need to be. It'd be nice though.

Maybe so the turtles can use their weapons and have a true ninja movie.

The turtles can use their weapons without it being R rated.

If Wolverine can slice the hell out of people in the X-Films, and they maintain a PG-13 rating, then we could see the Turtles, particularly Leo and Raph, use their weapons.

I'd hardly call what wolverine does in the x films "slicing the hell" out of people though. It took 5 films for them to work up the courage to actually show a small amount of blood on his blades. I'm not saying wolverine fight scenes have to look like the lair of a slasher flick villain, but what they show in x films is not even remotely what it should be for a violent character with 6 foot long knives coming out of his hands.

That being said, I do agree that if they allowed to show the turtles using their weapons, I'd be fine with it being done in that way. 95% of people know and love the turtles from their more light hearted variations, so it'd be a good compromise.

A PG-13 "TMNT" movie seems more passable than an R-rated movie by the studios.

An R rated TMNT film is a stupid idea. No studio is going to greenlight that after Watchmen and Dredd. I'm not saying that I wouldn't like it, but it just wouldn't be a smart move.

Outside of comedies, R rated films aren't profitable.

Plus, just because a movie is r-rated and/or its source material skews more towards an R, doesn't mean its good/will be good.

People are focusing too muich on the first issues, which were blatant satire. Later on stuff got played more straight but it wasn't as grimdark.

I've got the first volume of Eastman and Laird's TMNT, one of the recent IDW coffee table book reprints. Nothing really came across as dark, even though it was meant to satirize "darkness." It felt more like a play on the outrageous aspects of comics, rather than strictly their darker tone.

Only R-rated movies can be good, you know that. Like Jaws, Jurassic Park, or Raiders of the Lost Ark.

But those 3 movies weren't rated R, they were rated PG-1..............oh

You can slice or stab someone in a PG-13 flick and even mortally wound them, but you can't linger on it, that's all. Leo and Raph will do that if they have to, but they don't go around maiming bad guys if they can just knock them out or restrain them.

I think they said it'll be PG-13.

Fight the Foot is an awesome fan film. And that Raphael suit is killer! Hopefully the mo-cap cgi looks half as good as the practical suit featured in that short.

Agreed. They even got the shape of the head right for the most part imo.
