Honestly, the 2007 CG movie was probably the most accurate depiction of them on the big screen aside from the first one in 1990. If they maintain that feel, it will work.

I really hope I like the hunched over look they have. I'm kinda having doubts about it.

What's also weird is the cast would have been good too. Chris Evans as Casey and SMG as April would have been awesome.

Oh come on now. SMG is still pretty hot.

I'm pretty worried about Shredder but I am liking the descriptions of the Turtles and Splinter!

And let's keep in mind that we were getting toy descriptions, so it could be a look during a part of the movie and not necessarily what they look like the whole time. And we know there are cases where the toys aren't very good depictions at all. I'm sure it won't be long before we find out.

Well, toy companies make ridiculous alternate versions of characters just to sell more toys. Look at all the different Batman, Superman, etc. toys where they have attachable weapons or suits for every occasion so maybe... just maybe... those designs seen by Idle Hands aren't the actual movie designs, but just different versions.

I just hate the idea of the clothes honestly. Isn't Nickelodeon producing this? You would think if they have a hit TV show on their network that is watched by new fans along with old fans--- the makers of this movie would try to respect both.

I love how Eastman claimed that this movie will be what every Turtle fan wants. Must love that bed of money he's been sleeping on.

Well we have a pretty decent chance of those descriptions being accurate because before those were seen people had been describing Leonardo to a Tee, with his samurai like armour, shoulder pads, arm and leg bracers. I feel like when we first see the turtles this is how they'll likely look.
Also the silhouettes on the shirt that a crew member had, also had what seemed to be samurai armour on the turtles.

I also doubt he's been paid that much, tabloids will paint a good picture though. Maybe he swims in money like Scrooge mcDuck a swell:yay: why not.

He probably meant a certain type of fan. And maybe when he described the word want he was talking about the spirit and sense of important things like bother hood and such, not so much superficial things.

I'm sure you're familiar with the complaints about superman's undies before the film came out...Curious why you are so against apparel btw. I mean is there a reason outside of it's different from what's come before?

 Isnt April supposed to be attractive?

You better not be one of the people who suggested Anna Kendrick for the role because if so your opinion of attractiveness is invalid. :o

I personally didn't give a crap about losing Superman's red undies and I thought Supe's suit was fine.

Outside of going on recon missions or in another time, but that's the only time really the Turtles wore clothes unless of course A) wintertime or B) the future Turtles. Why do they need to wear samurai armor? Is this "TMNT 3" again? (And I like that movie btw.) They already have their individual personalities, weapons, and bandanas--- they don't need individual wardrobes too. Are the bandanas, belts, elbow pads and kneepads, and them naked really that outdated?

I mean it took me awhile to get use to the CGIed designs in the Nickelodeon show, but they work. Shredder looks like Shredder. Kraang looks like Krang. The Turtles and Splinter look like themselves. Other characters got the shaft but they stuck with what worked in the past and updated it a little.

Going completely off the rails by changing Shredder's race and name, making the Foot into not ninjas, and other changes just seem very unnecessary and seem like a bunch of people who never really understood the Turtles, let alone read a comic, or grew up with the old movies and show are in charge of this thing.

The trailer is going to be my last decision on whether or not this a first day 'must-see' for me or 'wait till Netflix.' Right now, I'm pointing to the latter.

While I don't think she'd be good for the role either, I DO thinkknow that Anna Kendrick is all kindsa hot.

I never thought about that until I read it, but she'd have been a good pick.

Anyhow, don't those toy descriptions sound like some fan art that was around a year or two ago?

1. Bay isn't making this movie...though the more people that believe that, the more buzz and people will no doubt go.

2. There hasn't ever been an amazing and substance filled movie based of this material, at best there is something that is imo at the 2007 Transformers level but with more subtleties as the ninja material would demand(vs transforming alien cars).
The 1990 movie was pretty dang good and had actual themes and ideas. Bay wouldn't know about themes and ideas if they punched him in the face.

I'm fine with the Turtles having distinctive looks. The Shredder's design sounds really stupid and I don't get why they would want to make their main villain look like a complete joke.

I agree with the ninja thing. If we're going to get "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles", then I don't see how implementing a clan of ninjas or ensuring Shredder's origins are accurate would be that hard to maintain. If I can believe that human-sized turtles are walking around among humans, the other stuff isn't far-fetched at all.

The trailer may indeed make or break whether or not the changes will work in this film. The true fans seem to have very obvious things we want done right, and those obvious things will be very clearly evident ... even in a teaser.

Never change, internet. Never change.

Shredder's costume sounds cool. A throwback to a joke one of the turtles made about his outfit in the Eastman and Laird comics. The turtles sound great, too.

You sure?

theme
noun

: the main subject that is being discussed or described in a piece of writing, a movie, etc.

: a particular subject or issue that is discussed often or repeatedly

I mean really sure...

I think the original TMNT did have some good values in it, and treated Splinter as their father figure, as well as emphasized the importance of family a lot.

Splinter was more than their master and mentor, he was their father figure and raised the four baby turtles he found in the sewers. Splinter and Danny's father were actually good "fathers" even tho the turtles are adopted, and Danny ran away.

It was also about the whole relationship with Danny and his father, Danny running away and all the runaways/teens who Shredder adopts into his "family".

Shredder makes his family call him their father. He's not their father in the same way Splinter is the father figure of the turtles. Shredder tried to take Danny away from his father, and make him part of the foot's family.

Casey Jones rescues Danny and talks about how what Shredder had going for the runaways wasn't a family. "That over there, that's family?". In the end Danny is reunited with his real father who really does care about him. And the turtles care about Splinter even more when he's kidnapped, because he's also their father figure.

The entire theme of that movie was about fatherhood, now that you really think about it.
