Cake toppers posted in the Technodrome forums.

It angers me and makes me laugh at the same time that we're seeing ****ing leaked cake toppers before anything official.:funny:

I am starting to get a little worried that the turtles are going to spend the entire movie in search of a restroom where they can take a dump.

Except Donnie. Apparently he went before they left home.

Honestly I think having absolutely nothing out at this point is a huge mistake. Yes, they are going to have a big trailer unveiling and try to make a huge splash of buzz, but it's no excuse for not having anyone talking about it right now. There's no such thing as too much hype, unless you're worried that your project won't live up to the hype. They don't need to drop a trailer right this instant, but they need something. This is just sad.

Relax guys, it's only a "work in progress" image...

Makes me wish the guy who decided "let's send out photos of these cake toppers, but mark them as a 'work in progress'" was in charge of this film's promotion.

It should be just a matter of time now

Happens with one film every year. Luckily there isn't all that much traffic in these thread so we'll be able to see the change in real time.

It's like clock work.

I love how the Leo cake topper looks like a dopey turtles in kids cartoons.

I did what I could to make these cake toppers look cool, but I didn't have much to work with:

Not bad...just wish they would give us actual character posters. Or hell even an official teaser poster

What change is that? Even if they started marketing the crap out of this movie tomorrow, it doesn't change the fact that they're doing a terrible job of it today. The only change there will be is "Holy **** where the frick is something official" to "Yay! We finally got something official! [insert opinion here]!"

Who said anything about changing the fact?
With both MoS and Wolverine there were these exact complains about lax marketing, then when it starts up,thee studio goes overboard and no one mentions it anymore. That is, there are no more comments about lack of marketing and thus, 'change' in the going on around here.

Of course there are those that will no doubt keep bringing up what they suspect 'hurt' the film marketing wise(though by that time there will be enough press/buzz to argue otherwise), but those folks will no doubt be the ones that have complained about every single news related item since day one...their really is changing that I suppose.

I think you misunderstood that part of my post. I didn't claim you did.

MoS was marketed far ahead in advance, not sure where that comparison is coming from. And The Wolverine wasn't marketed well at all. Just because it did fine at the box office doesn't mean t couldn't have done a lot better if it were marketed better.

Heck, I even think Guardians of the Galaxy has been incredibly under promoted. Do I think it'll do fine at the box office? Of course. But I still think they passed on a lot of opportunities to make the film a bigger hit with better marketing. TMNT is making a mistake by under promoting as well. Sure, no one will be talking about it after the promotion starts, because what's the point after that? It would be like discussing how bad a film's teaser is, a week before opening and with several full trailers out already.

I'm just saying even though we won't be talking about this late start much more once something does drop doesn't mean those of us who think this stalling is a mistake are wrong.

why do you think GOTG will do fine at the boxoffice?

What is the point of promotion? To raise awareness for a films release, if that films release happens and it's successful than one could easily argue that the promotion did it's task perfectly. Of course everything and anything could be 'better' but that doesn't mean one can assert the title of 'mistake' upon a decision. TDK could have had 'better' trailers, whose to say they were actually poor though.

Considering you were the one that responded to my post initially, I'll restate that my post wasn't talking about whether you 'people' are right or wrong. I pointed to the idea that things would change as they always do in this particular situation, period.

As for whether you are right or wrong:
If it's a literal matter of you people simply pointing out the 'fact' that there is no promotion as of this moment than sure, that's an accurate observation.
However if it's a matter of analyzing this promotional technique and coming to the conclusion that it falls into the category of being 'under promoted' that's impossible to say. Stalling has it's benefits as I'm sure you would understand.

As for the comparison to MOS, it's simple, people including myself went on for months about the lax promotion only to be shut up about it once it started. The film was everywhere and the promotion did it's job in raising world wide awareness before the films release, what's more the content and style of the spots/trailers is what really sold it. Whether it was different situation doesn't change the validity of the comparison, people complained about the quantity then things changed, and that was my point. I won't even get into wolverine cause that's going to end up in a subjective go round, even though I was talking about the start of it's marketing run not so much they content.

Lastly, who was it that said a recent vanilla ice tv commercial generated a ton of buzz...They won't have to worry about awareness once they start this brand is huge and that factors in. Guardians, the first Cap movie don't have the awareness to pull of that vanilla ice commercial and that says something. Between bay's name and fox' face their awareness issues are very different than their competition.
I'll say this in closing, it's about quality not quantity.

I digress.
I was talking about the change that will and always happens, not so much whether you people will be proven wrong or not. And you're wrong, if the marketing started up and it sucked people would continue to talk about the crappy marketing.
