New Mutants New Mutants News and Discussion - Part 2

Much better than the X-Men being wasted in the hands of FoX! Just like this version of "The New Mutants".

So... so celebrating greed, dirty business and corruption is better than a fictional property's usage at a company? Did you really just say that?

Come down off that moral high ground, lol!

All big companies more than likely have their share of greed and questionable dealings. I don't think you can point a finger at Murdoch as the only one doing it!

Nothing like celebrating unfettered greed. :oldrazz:

Accusing people of "celebrating greed" and wealthy corporations in a message board giving support to one of Rupert Murdoch's many multi-million dollar film productions PROBABLY isn't the right place.

Unless come February and August (who knows?), you're both willing to walk into that theatre without paying? Really stick it to the man!

Given that my original post was facetious... and my response incredulous...

However, this whole merger is so that Murdoch's sons won't pay death tax or something related to getting taxed when he dies. Even if I come down off that moral ground, is it wrong to point out that maybe you shouldn't let something you want get in the way of speaking out against what's wrong? This is Disney and Universal.

Piracy bit?hez. But no, there's a difference between using a service provided by the corrupt and celebrating the corrupt themselves because of our gains. Just because Pusha T was right doesn't mean you can't enjoy Drake even if you can't support Birdman's business.

You mean the version from this movie that nobody has seen yet?
I have seen the teaser trailer which doesn't feel/look like the New Mutants. And since when a finished movie got delay for eighteen months if it's so good? Fox obviously have seen it.:o

I should assume you never read new mutants or know about New Mutants was about if you think the trailer does not look and feel like it since, new mutants was actually a horror series.

We will know the truth after Fox sells, likely to Comcast. I really don't think the director will appreciate the outside influence due to the suppose Disney/Fox deal messing with his craft.

I think Fox and Disney saw it. Disney probably did not like it, so it was likely pushed back because disney feels if they buy fox, they can cancel it but the tides are changing. The truth will soon be out there.

I'm don't really believe in all those conspiracy theories. I just think that they tested the movie, it faired okay, the audience didn't find it very scary, so the studio decided to go all out and up the horror factor, which is what they're going to try and achieve with the reshoots. See ya next summer, guys! Noticing slugzilla's absence by then is going to be really fun.

Its not conspiracy theories to me, the suppose deal caused a lot of problems for fox and not just their xmen movies, something that never made sense to me because its not like it was offical that disney was buying fox.

For example, Noah Hawley said he has finished writing a dr doom screenplay and that is on hold because of the disney deal. I have no doubts the same was with new mutants. if you look at it, new mutants is fresh and new, it is sensible to hold that off unlike dark phoenix or Deadpool 2 that are sequels.

Now we know its far from offical. regardless of testings.. pushing it back 18 months screams more than testings. I think we will know the truth real soon, I think it is beyond obvious what is going on.

For example, Noah Hawley said he has finished writing a dr doom screenplay and that is on hold because of the disney deal.

He said it was because he had to direct another movie first which would take a few months to complete and he doesn't know where the deal will be at that point.

He hopes to get back to the script after he has finished with the other movie but thats where the uncertainty comes from.

You believe that fox screened a New Mutants and got the impression it wasn't scary enough, so they decided to delay it's release nearly 2 years to reshoot it and make the movie scarier? Seriously? This is the studio that released X3, Fant4stic, etc. My friend, Your theory simply doesn't add up when you consider the history of this studio.

While I respect your opinion, I must disagree with your assessment that the New Mutants was a horror series. While there were certainly elements of horror in some of the story arcs, there was just as many elements of action, humor, sci-fi, Teen drama, etc. It was never simply a horror series.

I'm not even going to touch your comments 3about the "director's craft" lol.

Again, this deal is done Disney gets Fox. Period.

If the deal goes through will you lose your job? The thought just came to me, my bad if the question is to too personal. Also are u still willing to give out a breakdown of the film?

New Mutants combined many different genres. this movie was based off the horror series called the demon bear saga. that was the focus of the movie. you can have a horror movie that is still action, humour, sci-fi, Teen drama. You should not touch on director's craft,:whatever: we know how Hollywood directors hate it when there is studio interference. You can start with Disney, see how many directors complain about their craft getting messed up or once in a while fox, James Mangold hated the last arc of The Wolverine so he demanded full control for Logan.

Lastly the deal is not done, Comcast is going to bid on Wednesday, Rupert is interested. I doubt the deal with happen. no way is X-MEN going to end up following the MCU Disney formula not after Star Wars that disney has ruined. Making a new mutants movie alone was a good thing, not just for x-men but for comic book movies. to think disney will never have Green-lighted this movie due to the tone and it being horror or not CGI heavy enough, is the reason they should not get the rights to x-men. Disney can't even make movies like X2 or DOFP talkless of a horror movie.

As I said, the truth will come out sooner or later. I don't think Josh Boone will stay silent for long. He was passionate about the movie and his craft has been messed him. he will speak out sooner or later.

Definitely not a horror series, so I completely agree with you!

Also the New Mutants are students of Xavier and they live in the X mansion. Basically they are X-Men Jr. So far, we haven't heard anything that that is the case in this movie. Also no trademark costumes? Geez Fox.

The Demon bear saga was a horror series, sorry but marvel disney fans please stop denying facts.

I know some of you are only saying it is not horror because disney makes only light hearted movies but fact are new mutants demon bear saga the movie is based off was HORROR. Period.

a story were nightmare becomes reality. that is horror, the writer wrote the comics as such.

Its best to assume for time being that Disney will get FOX, but if the deal is truly sealed then whats with all the reports of comcast throwing in a new bid and Rupert being open to basically getting as much money as they can get.

The deal is not sealed but I think the media is playing it that way because the media wants it to happen for disney not comcast. And to think I used to worry about credible journalism in politics and news only. this is just 9 minutes ago news

I truly hope Rupert goes with Comcast in the end. If it does, we can put this new mutants push back mess behind us and get the real movie like the director planned. Disney making new mutants is laughable. what they will see is characters who are children or early teens, please look at how they handled Spiderman Homecoming. It felt like a TV disney movie. Almost high school musical without the singing.

New Mutants deserves to be approached better. Also to all the people who keep saying new mutants is not horror, remove the horror story like the demon bear saga and see what they became. kids, who Cable trained to be a strike force team that handles the dirtier side of x-men business. New Mutants is almost like battle royale without the kill eachother part. no way will disney be interested in that for young x-men not even on Netflix.. period. Comcast won't care since they never promoted a full on family-friendly branding like Disney does nether did FOX.
Cyclops used this approach in Second Coming. Can you imagine a disney new mutants movie where cyclops is telling kids to fight or die?:whatever:

I really do need to hear Josh Boone speak out of what is going on. he must be real pissed, especially for a director who has an indie background and is more into story telling and depth than bombastic CGI movies.

I'll give you Fant4stic... that was a misstep for the studio. And Josh Trank going nuts during production surely didn't help.

But the fact that you mention X-Men: The Last Stand, which was made under a completely different regime clearly shows that you have absolutely no clue about what you're talking about.

Because not only did Tom Rothman leave, but most of his lackeys and fellow executives as well.

Of course FOX haters on here and anyone who's counting days until the Marvel characters are in Kevin Feige's hands will follow whatever you say blindly, because you're feeding them with whatever stuff they've LOVE to hear and dream about.

But let's get realistic. Or not. That's up to you. Have fun with your fantasy insider stuff. Reminds me of when I used to write 'fantasy comic book movie news' when I was MUCH younger, but at least those stayed in my Word files, without me trying to pass them off as the real deal on a message board.

And yeah, The New Mutants wasn't a pure horror comic book. But you've got to set these movies apart. Making a movie about Junior X-Men would be just that... a movie about Junior X-Men. So Josh Boone taking a page from The Demon Bear saga and trying to make a movie that's different from the rest makes perfect sense and is NOT a betrayal of the source material.

That's how you keep comic book adaptations fresh going forward.

The Fox/Disney deal isn't finalized (I get the impression regulatory approval has to happen first), but the preliminary deal has put Comcast at a disadvantage. At a minimum, Fox doesn't think Comcast's deal is better and that's leaving aside the liquidation clause that would require him to have to pay Disney if he backs out of the deal. But that doesn't mean Comcast doesn't want to keep trying. My personal preference would have been to split assets to ensure neither side gets too much of a market share, but that's not realistic.

You know what is weird about X3. X3 feels like a MCU movie. lots of action, very little plot narrative. The difference between X2 and X3 is X2 was a superb movie with great story telling, good plot, excellent suspense, drama and performance with deep human themes and no right or wrong answers. it was really the best and worst of the human and mutant conflict.

For comic fans it was our Dark Knight before 2008. its a bizarre irony to now hand over X-men to another studio that likely prefers X3 approach over X2.:whatever: X2 is a film you can watch in mute because the cinematography was so excellently done.

It got elements of Horror and supernatural. Its not the Exorcist or the Conjuring of Marvel Comics. Geez. How about you read the other titles as well including the non 80 New Mutants comics? The Demon Saga after all isn't the entire run of the New Mutants comics. Also Demon Bear is not even in the film..
