I'm sure it will look visually amazing, but story and character wise? Him writing the script pretty much guarantees it's going to come up short in that department like his other movies.

I like the script and characters in Monsters well enough.

I just don't think there is much to judge Edwards by other than he clearly knows how to direct for scale and FX, but maybe hasn't proven himself as a director of actors yet. But he has only made three feature length films.

He didn't write Godzilla or Rogue One.

Oh hell yes! This looks fantastic. I honestly don't think Gareth Edwards gets enough credit as a director. the sense of scale in his movies is always breathtaking.

This looks like a movie that takes place in a Star Wars galaxy that Disney refuses to explore. Awesome.

Wow this looks absolutely amazing and I'm definitely getting Neil Blomkamp District 9/Elysium vibes from this as well as some Japanese/anime influence in there as well which is really cool.

The budget/scale of this looks pretty insane too.
