New sim game?

This would seem to suggest a sim game (e.g. Sim City) is in the preliminary stages of developement by Maxis (Spore).

Sims and Spore developer Maxis are reportedly hard at work on a “Triple A simulation-style game” according to a job advert.

The job post calls for an ‘experienced Graphics Engineer’ to join its Emeryville, California team. The lucky applicant will be hard at work ”with a highly talented and experienced team on an upcoming triple-A simulation style game.”


It seems that this game will also be developed for the PS3 and Xbox 360, as a plus point for the role is ”knowledge of the Xbox 360 and PS3 rendering architectures and APIs”.

"Simulation" is a very vague term that can easily be taken out of content. However it's worth noting EA owns the rights to Sim City as well as other Sim games. They have mostly sat dormant but will probably be rebooted as first person shooting people in the face repeatidly in order to save the universe with scripted sequences like a Michael Bay movie. Cause games are very creative these days thanks to the mass market nature of consoles. It could also be another "spore" or "the sims" game as those (even though not really) can be classed as a kind of simulation. Still, here's hoping it's a sim city game.

I always liked Sim City until people start complaining about how the air isn't clean. No matter what, I could never manage to make them happy.

It's EA so they will probably figure out some way of bastardizing it.

Those screenshots look pretty neat, especially the one of the road accident. I liked Sim City 2000 a lot, although I always turned off the Disasters because I thought they were silly.

My favorite thing to do was make a road far out away from the main city and build small towns.
