Movie Trailer: New York, I Love You

Posted on Sunday, August 24th, 2008 at 12:25 pm by: Peter Sciretta

From the producers of Paris, je t’aime, comes New York, I Love You, another anthology of 12-short films, this time focusing on the stories of love in New York’s five boroughs. Directed by Zach Braff, Mira Nair, Park Chan-Wook, Yvan Attal, Wang Xiaoshuai, Emanuele Crialese, Andrei Zvyagintsev, Albert and Allen Hughes, Joshua Marston, Fatih Akin, Jiang Wen, Brett Ratner, Randall Balsmeyer, Shunji Iwai, Shekhar Kapur, Natalie Portman, and Scarlett Johansson. The film’s ensemble cast includes: Kevin Bacon, Maggie Q, Orlando Bloom, James Caan, Hayden Christensen, Blake Lively, Julie Christie, Chris Cooper, Drea de Matteo, Carla Gugino, Ethan Hawke, John Hurt, Shia LaBeouf, Natalie Portman, Rachel Bilson, Christina Ricci, Olivia Thirlby, Robin Wright Penn, Anton Yelchin, Burt Young and more.

I never got a chance to see Paris, je t’aime, but the idea always seemed appealing to me. While I live in probably the greatest city in the States - San Francisco, Manhattan has always been my favorite big screen city setting. New York, I Love You will screen as a work in progress at the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival, and is expected to hit theaters in mid-february 2009.

Well, I digged Paris, je t'aime so I'm on board for this one.

I missed out on seeing "Paris, je t'aime", I'd like to catch this.

Comparing the quality of directors involved in 'Paris, je t'aime' to 'New York, I Love You' and it's just not fair. I mean Brett Ratner? Really?

Doesn't matter though, this looks great. Cast is amazing and I personally can't wait to see what Natalie Portman's segment will be like.

Paris je T'aime does have better directors for the most part. I agree with the Brett Ratner thing..it's a turnoff, even if his segment was good.

I haven't seen Paris je t'aime (even though it's my hometown:o:woot:). I'm not too crazy about shorts tied-up together with a theme, except of course for Creepshow.

It's sooo good. I highly recommend it. They are shorts but individually a lot of them stand up. The stories are all very different too. The only real theme is Paris.

Saw the trailer for this, looks interesting. I'll be checking it out for sure :yay:

I kinda dug Paris je t'aime, but didn't see this one yet.

Next up will be Rio, Eu Te Amo (Rio, I Love You). Already on board are Fernando Meirelles (director of City of God and Blindness) and José Padilha (director of Elite Squad).

I thought this was going to be a new reality show on VH-1...

doesn't seem as superior a list of directors as Paris, je t'aime. But I'll def. give it a chance.
