Wow....

I dont even get it.

They are saying the stimulus bill is so lousy a chimp could have written it.

Either that or they are racists.

"An overweight, murderous Chimpanzee wrote a Bill that will destroy our economy"

Is that Satire?

New York Post = Republican Paper.

So in their eyes, yes.

It's not even funny. I'm right leaning, and I find that terrible.

Most everything out of NY isn't funny. Except the Soap Opera that is the Yankees.

I guess I can understand where they were trying to go with this....but...

That's like...what? It doesn't even make sense. At least if it was a donkey or a mule, it'd make more sense. A chimp sounds like either A) a jab at Dubya, or B) just racist. And don't try and doublespeak your way out of it, what the hell does a monkey have to do with the stimulus bill?

I think they're making reference to the story about the chimp that went beserk in CT earlier this week and was shot by police. Their headline yesterday was "Furious George."

Still, not funny at all. Doesn't even make sense. The Post is a rag, I won't even spend the $.25 on it.

And I thought Republican cartoons could not get less funny than Mallard Fillmore. I stand corrected.

The Chimp represents the insanity of those that wrote the Stimulus Bill.

Not Obama.

...I think.

I thought it was supposed to be playing off of that lady in NY who had to have her pet chimp shot by the cops after he went on a rampage

http://www.reuters.com/article/mediaNews/idUSN1750384020090217

NEW YORK, Feb 17 (Reuters) - Police shot and killed a 200-pound (90-kg) chimpanzee that had once starred in television commercials after the ape nearly killed its owner's friend and attacked a police cruiser.

The victim, Charla Nash, 55, was in very critical condition from the biting and mauling attack on Monday, said Captain Richard Conklin, a spokesman for police in Stamford, Connecticut, a New York City suburb. Her injuries were life threatening, he said on Tuesday.

Owner Sandra Herold, 70, tried to stop her rampaging pet, Travis, by stabbing him with a butcher knife and hitting him with a shovel but the chimpanzee fended off the attack and then stormed a police car that had responded to the scene, Conklin said.

The ape ripped off the side-view mirror of the police car, banged on the car and opened the driver's side door, leading the officer to shoot the chimp several times with his pistol, Conklin said.

The animal fled the scene and police found a blood trail leading to its living quarters inside the house, where he died.

The chimp, just short of 15 years old, was taking medication for Lyme disease, which in humans can cause nerve damage and confusion in its later stages.

Travis had once starred in television commercials for Coca-Cola and the clothing retailer Old Navy, Conklin said.

Citing neighbors, local media said the chimp was normally well behaved and engaged in human activity such as surfing the Internet and watching baseball on TV. He reportedly sat at the dinner table, ate expensive steaks and drank wine, brushing his teeth afterward.

why does everyone assume racism anytime a monkey is involved?

It's not so much "why does everyone assume racism anytime a monkey is involved", but moreso how dumb does that cartoonist have to be that the thought never crossed his mind before drawing that? Did he seriously think that might not be interpreted the wrong way?

Exactly right Souvlaki. It's a well known racist slur, comparing African-Americans to monkeys, even if that was genuinely not his intent, he should have known (as should his ediitor who approved it) better. Not inherently racist ,necessarily, Just plain stupid and somewhat insensitive.

Maybe the thought did cross his mind but I'm assuming he went with it figuring everyone in NY would "get" it since the chimp shooting was such a big story there yesterday. The Chimp obviously is just a metaphor for something that is crazed and out of control and the event was current and topical.

If no one did anything on the off chance that someone might get offended, we'd get very little accomplished in this world. Had the chimp incident not happened and he just randomly picked it as a metaphor for the author of the bill, then I could see it being somewhat suspect. Not to mention anyone with half a functioning cortex knows that Obama didnt author that bill.

It's just another case of people going out of their way to become offended at something by loosely tieing an image of a chimp that mentions something having to do with Obama.

As the title of the thread says this pic is comparing Obama, The one credited for coming up with the stimulus plan, to a monkey. A well known racist slur.

If you also noticed there is a sign on the pole that says "Beware of Dog", A reference to cops using dogs on African-Americans back in the 60s.

Whoever came up with this crap and his edtor should be fired IMO.:whatever:

The Post is now saying that it's a "parody of current news events".

Fine, Explain to me what the hell does the shooting of that chimp have to do with the stimulus bill?:whatever:

That's pretty damn racist.

I mean, everyone knows that right now....especially since the Republicans held they're ground, that Obama OWNS the Stimulus bill. It's HIS bill.

I think the logical conclusion of reading that....is that the author gets killed, who happens to be a monkey.

And who's considered the author of the bill?

I mean....it's too hard to swallow that the Post cannot wrap they're minds around why that would be offensive.

Next Time, this is happening:

That Obama is a monkey that is out of control and needs to be put down.

I think that's what we're led to believe they're trying to connect the two.

Because the stimulus bill and that rampaging monkey....have nothing to do with one another. Most people probably didn't even know about the rampaging monkey until AFTER this cartoon hit.
